Chapter 75: Something Is Off About Lu Ye
“Since you have the nerve to cause trouble on my turf, Miss Pei, I’ll inform security to throw you out every time they see you from now on.”
Pei Pei hurried to explain, the fierceness she’d shown towards Jiang Sui moments before gone from her face. She seemed to have transformed into a completely different person. “It’s not like that, Lu Ye. I just wanted to see you. I saw your car parked here, and there was a woman inside, so I…”
Lu Ye’s tone was cold and indifferent. “And what does that have to do with you? Who’s in my car—does that concern you? What right do you have to show up here and meddle with my affairs?”
“But Lu Ye… I like you! I’ve liked you for so long. How can you treat me this way?” Pei Pei’s disbelief was palpable, her voice heavy with hurt.
Jiang Sui silently commented, clicking her tongue. Not as good-looking as me, and her acting isn’t even a tenth of mine.
Lu Ye’s brows knit tightly, his voice emotionless and icy: “I don’t like you. You’re the one who insists on following me around like a lovesick puppy. Did I ever give you a second glance?”
Pei Pei was speechless.
Jiang Sui found herself swallowing subconsciously.
Damn… what a ruthless man.
Who would’ve guessed? Lu Ye’s tongue could be so sharp.
And with that kind of tone—calm, unhurried, almost soothing, yet his words could pierce right through the heart.
Pei Pei stared at Lu Ye, aggrieved and resentful, then shot Jiang Sui a venomous glare before running off in tears.
Lu Ye said coolly, “This is my company’s territory. I’ll make sure security never lets her in again.”
Jiang Sui glanced around, her gaze settling on the building before her. “So this building is your company?”
Lu Ye replied, “The entire industrial park belongs to my family. This building is just one of the main offices. The name is at the entrance, and the rest are divided by building number.”
Jiang Sui was stunned. What kind of family is this?
“She’s the heiress of the Pei family,” Lu Ye added. “I’m not close to her.”
Jiang Sui had no interest in this Pei family heiress.
But she knew, clearly, that woman had her eyes on Lu Ye.
With looks like his, it would be odd if women weren’t attracted to him.
She took off her mask to breathe more easily.
“I thought she was your little lover, here to catch you cheating,” Jiang Sui exhaled.
Thank goodness that crazy woman hadn’t ripped off her mask and sunglasses—if she’d been recognized as Jiang Sui, there’d be trouble. She was pretty popular these days; any scandal would be no small matter.
Even if she hadn’t been canceled online for the variety show, if an incident like this went viral, her reputation could sink in an instant.
But suddenly, she felt an unsettling gaze from above.
“If anyone is going to catch me cheating, it should be you.” His voice was low and cold. “You’re my wife—my legitimate, lawful wife. Can’t you act a little more like the lady of the house? When other women insult you, can’t you talk back?”
“And let me make this clear again—there’s no other woman in my life.”
Jiang Sui stared at Lu Ye, who seemed almost gritting his teeth with every word, and was momentarily stunned.
She felt that something about him had changed, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.
It had started after they got out of the car.
She’d always thought Lu Ye was the type who stayed calm no matter what, who rarely showed emotion or got angry.
Yet today, he’d already lost his temper several times in front of her.
She responded absently, “So next time, I should talk back?”
Only then did Lu Ye’s stern expression soften.
“Mm.” He acknowledged softly, reaching up to tuck her unruly hair gently behind her ear.
“Let’s go home,” he said.
Now Jiang Sui felt even more uneasy inside.
She blinked behind her sunglasses.
What exactly was off here?
