Chapter 11: This Kind of Behavior Is Called Being a Giant Infant
Bullet comments:
"I was scared to death! Please! Let professionals handle professional matters, okay? Bai Xuexue, are you out of your mind, letting a child do this?"
"Where are those mindless fans from just now? Look, this is the child-rearing method you were praising."
"Ahhh, is Xiaochuan alright? My god, that was terrifying!"
"Hahaha, weren’t you all just hyping Bai Xuexue and Ji Chuan? Not anymore, huh?"
Jiang Sui and Lu Xuanxuan were resting not far from the finish line, so they witnessed the scene as well.
"Xuanxuan, what do you think?" Jiang Sui wouldn’t miss any chance to shatter Lu Xuanxuan’s rose-tinted view of Ji Chuan’s family.
Xuanxuan looked toward Ji Chuan, frowning. "Ji Chuan’s mom seems even more childish than I am. And Ji Chuan is just too foolish."
Jiang Sui nodded approvingly. "Exactly. Behavior like Ji Chuan’s mom’s is what we call a ‘giant baby.’ You shouldn’t ever be like that, understand? Children should do what children are meant to do—don’t act tough, or you’ll end up hurting yourself and others."
Xuanxuan was puzzled. "Hurting yourself and others?"
Jiang Sui replied, "Yes. If the staff hadn’t caught them just now, mother and son could’ve been disabled for life."
Xuanxuan gazed at Ji Chuan and his mother, her brows tightly knit. "I’m glad I don’t have a mom like that."
Jiang Sui was very satisfied. In the original script, Lu Xuanxuan liked Bai Xuexue a lot, and their relationship was good. Bai Xuexue had deliberately arranged many opportunities for her and Ji Chuan to interact, which led to subsequent hidden plots.
To cut off the tragic fate awaiting herself and Xuanxuan, Jiang Sui knew she had to intervene early.
What she didn’t realize was that the comparison had made Lu Xuanxuan feel that Jiang Sui was better than Bai Xuexue after all. She was also gradually losing her previous resistance and dislike toward Jiang Sui.
Jiang Sui pointed to Li Lan, who was stealing a moment to look over her script nearby. "You should learn from Nan’s mom. No matter when, always take your own responsibilities seriously."
Li Lan overheard and turned to give Jiang Sui a gentle smile. "Just happened to have a bit of time waiting for Xiaochuan and his mom, so I’m looking over the script for the next shoot."
"Even while filming a live variety show, Sister Lan’s still so hardworking. With you putting in so much effort, what are we little actors supposed to do?" Bai Xuexue’s voice sounded as she walked over to them.
Li Lan’s expression was a bit strained, but she still gave Bai Xuexue face and smiled. "The next project is starting soon, so I’m making the most of my free time to study."
Bai Xuexue said, "Sister Lan, let me tell you, life’s only a few decades long. If you spend the whole time hustling, you’ll never get to enjoy anything before you kick the bucket. When you’re filming variety shows, you should rest when you can. Why work so hard? Look at me—I barely even read the script, just go with my instincts when acting... Turns out it works pretty well. So why not put the script down and get a good rest?"
Li Lan retorted, "That’s you."
Everyone in the industry knew Bai Xuexue had a powerful benefactor behind her. From her very first step into the business, she was showered with resources. Her acting was good, but she’d worked hard for it, too. As for her so-called 'slacker persona,' Li Lan could see through it at a glance. But everyone turned a blind eye and chose not to expose the truth.
Jiang Sui smiled lightly. "Since you’ve committed to being a slacker, Bai Xuexue, why bother caring about what others do? Whether Sister Lan works hard or not has nothing to do with you. You talk about slacking off, yet you’re afraid of others working hard, trying to stop them from putting in the effort. Tell me, what does that make you?"
