Chapter 7: Fighting Without Honor
Seeing the look of distaste on Lu Xuanxuan’s face, Jiang Sui smiled with satisfaction, quietly basking in her own accomplishments.
Meanwhile, the live broadcast’s comment section erupted:
“???”
“???”
“?????”
A sea of question marks swept across the entire chat.
“Xixue, you’ve really given up, haven’t you? But first place gets priority in choosing their room! Aren’t you thinking about Xiaochuan at all?” Xu Manman said with a laugh, holding her daughter’s hand.
Actress Li Lan glanced at Bai Xixue, furrowing her brow before shaking her head.
Bai Xixue replied languidly, “Don’t worry, my son’s used to it. As for the house, we’ll just go with the flow. A house is a house, wherever it is.”
Jiang Sui took Lu Xuanxuan’s hand and whispered, “Don’t move at the start.”
Lu Xuanxuan answered with a sulky “oh.”
At the referee’s whistle, the race began.
The four mother-child teams charged toward the finish line.
Ji Chuan pushed the cart with all his might. Although it had wheels, it was still a challenge for a seven-year-old boy.
Bai Xixue sat on the cart, waving a small flag weakly as she cheered, “Go, son! Go, son!”
In Jiang Sui’s eyes, Bai Xixue was being nothing short of foolish.
She didn’t care how many fans Bai Xixue’s laid-back persona might win her.
She knew that such a defeatist attitude was meaningless in the face of true talent and strength.
Especially when this act brought her no real benefit.
What’s more, Bai Xixue’s supposed indifference was just an act—a calculated persona to attract fans and resources.
Her sudden rise to fame wasn’t just because of her image but also the man backing her from behind the scenes. Besides, she had no real rivals.
But now, things were different. As long as she didn’t let Bai Xixue reap the rewards, that slacker act would be utterly pointless.
The four mother-child pairs set off together, with Li Lan and her son quickly taking the lead.
Bai Xixue and her son trailed behind. After all, no matter how strong a seven-year-old was, dragging his mother behind him, he’d never outrun those ahead who could run freely.
None of them were especially fast, since they all had to keep hold of their children.
“Go, son, go!” Bai Xixue chanted rhythmically.
The chat filled with laughter and jokes.
Suddenly, someone exclaimed:
“No way! Jiang Sui’s playing dirty!”
“Wait, is this allowed??”
“Hahahaha, Sui Sui, your uncle spoils your dad!”
“Xuanbao looks so confused: Who am I? Where am I? What’s happening?”
Amid the barrage of comments, Jiang Sui scooped up the bewildered Xuanxuan and dashed forward.
Her speed was astonishing!
Even the cameraman trailing them was caught off guard!
While Li Lan and Xu Manman were still running, a gust of wind seemed to blow past them.
They stared in disbelief as Jiang Sui flew by, carrying her daughter.
How could she run so fast with a child in her arms?
Could Jiang Sui be a secret, retired Olympic athlete?
The director panicked. “Hurry up and film! Didn’t you see they’re out of frame?”
Since this was Jiang Sui’s final crossing, the system had randomly assigned her some of the abilities she’d gained before.
Exceptional athletic prowess and physical strength—her combat skills were just one of the random rewards.
In several of her past lives, she’d been an assassin or a special agent.
So, running with Lu Xuanxuan in her arms was effortless for her.
With the sun blazing overhead, running a whole lap in this heat was enough to give any child heatstroke.
The show’s events had all been arranged in advance with Bai Xixue’s management, probably to give her more screen time and highlight her laid-back persona.
That’s why this lineup was chosen.
In one burst, Jiang Sui reached the end of the track and set Lu Xuanxuan down, turning her gaze to the tall platform ahead.
“Get on. I’ll carry you,” she said, crouching down.
