Chapter 95 Convergence

A few scorching fireballs were dodged as if they were nothing. Hong Yan kicked forward at full speed, and there was a thud—Ye Tang took the hit, lost her balance, and kept drifting through the air. She rolled backward to steady herself, only to find Pei Ran, waiting on her left for a long time, already lunging in with a punch. Ye Tang blocked with her sword, Pei Ran stepped back, and at that moment Xue Gang appeared from the other side and slammed into her. Unable to defend in time, Ye Tang kept falling toward the ground.
Fortunately she used the wall of the building to keep her footing; they naturally gave her no time to recover. Disa pressed his advantage. Just as the two closed in, Ye Tang bounced off the wall and surged toward him. Though startled, Disa still met her with another attack.
When Disa’s fist was about to strike, Ye Tang snapped to the right, caught his punching hand with her left and dragged it toward his back, then in her right hand reversed her grip on the Crimson Blade, laid it across his throat, and murmured, “Goodbye, my friend.”
She put every ounce of strength into it. The razor edge split Disa’s throat outright. A cut to the throat left him out of the fight; even if he could recover, it would take him half a day, and with Crimson Blade wounds, all the less. But Ye Tang was not the sort to stop there. He had once maimed Du Bin badly, and she could not forgive it. Before everyone she unleashed yet another, stronger fireball, and Disa was burned to a cinder.
The others had only meant to toy with her at first, never expecting such a killing blow. Even though she was the king’s daughter, that could not soften their fury. Hong Yan could not hold back the other brothers’ wrath, and had to join the attack.
Facing seven vampires, Ye Tang no longer fought one by one. As soon as she landed, she spun with her sword. The Crimson Blade transformed into eight swords, and under her will they flew toward the vampires descending from above. Wounded Du Bin slipped into a pile of rubble to watch from hiding; by luck the surrounding virus-men never broke through, or she would have had to answer for this there as well.
The eight swords scattered, each chasing a vampire. One Crimson Blade remained in Ye Tang’s hand. She scanned her surroundings and waited.
Each vampire was pursued by a blade of Crimson. Leo could bear it no longer. Chained to the swords that constrained him, he would rather seize the initiative than be pressed flat. He shot toward Ye Tang. As she prepared to swing, he suddenly turned; the blade chasing him from behind could not turn in time and drove through her body, pinning itself into the wall. Ye Tang crouched by instinct, one hand pressing the wound.
Seeing that his own sword had wounded her excited him; the scent of her blood was too tempting. “So much blood wasted—better to let me taste it. I want to know what blood like this tastes like, mixed with human and vampire.”
He charged in a frenzy. Because of his injury, the remaining swords lost control and dropped to the ground, lifeless. Xue Gang and the others, lured by this feast, came running with, “Mine, mine.”
With her expression hidden by her hair, Ye Tang gave a strange smile. She gripped the Crimson Blade, spun in a tight circle, and the eight swords reappeared. The sudden turn of events shocked everyone back to awareness. By the time they tried to bolt, it was too late—the swords had already shot outward, driving straight into their bodies.
The Crimson Blade, besides being the hunting clan heir’s symbol, carried a native power to suppress vampires and greatly shortened the time needed for regeneration.
“You made yourself bait and exposed our thirst for blood. That trick was truly clever,” Hong Yan said through discomfort, unable to summon strength while constrained by the Crimson Blade.
Ye Tang rose, one hand holding her sword. “As a vampire, I know this well: once blood tempts you, reason is the first thing to drown. If you want to break your coordination, then you’ve already lost yours.”
When she finished, she swept her blade outward. A domineering circular wave of sword energy spread and tore into their bodies. With one motion, the Crimson Blades embedded in the vampires blazed into flames and incinerated them.
After subduing the Ten Braves, Ye Tang bent over her wound and breathed in great, ragged gasps. Sensing something amiss, Du Bin hurried to her side and held her. “Are you all right?”

“I’m fine,” Ye Tang forced out a smile, then promptly fainted.
Du Bin checked her injury. It was severe. She was a vampire, so the Crimson Blade had hurt her badly, and at this state she could not keep going. Virus-men filled the area, and with the Ten Braves gone, they seemed to be drifting toward the gymnasium.
In his panic, Du Bin truly did not know what place in the vast Haizhu District could hold them even for a while. Just then a Honda raced up, and a stout man called out from it, “Old Du, get in.”
In the driver’s seat was Hu Guozheng, the same greasy, overweight fellow in a tank top showing his belly, a cigarette hanging from his mouth. Their eyes met; Du Bin lifted Ye Tang and slipped into the car.
Inside were Aunt Lan and Le’er, and three strangers in the back seat. Luckily, the vehicle was a seven-seater. Aunt Lan, worried, took Ye Tang from him and promised to care for her.
“Everyone, be careful. Don’t get thrown out,” Hu Guozheng floored the accelerator. In moments, they vanished into the street, leaving the virus-men staring in bewilderment.
“Little Tang, is she all right?” Wu Yongxin asked, holding her hand with concern.
After checking, Lan Yei let out a breath and said, “She’s fine. She was only hurt by the Crimson Blade; it will pass.”
“For the sake of our eldest sister’s daughter, you’re still unmarried,” Ye Qian said with a helpless shake of the head.
“Is that not allowed?”
“It is. You have your own big chest, so you get to decide.”
“Excuse me, as if your chest is smaller than mine.”
“All right, all right. I’ll pretend I said nothing.” Ye Qian gave up and raised her hands.
Up above Daxia, Li Ping and the others were helpless before the plant abomination. Teammates were cut down one after another. Now only the two siblings remained there, plus Li Jianwen and Zhang Zhihao.
“We can’t let it go on like this—we’ll all be finished.”
“We can’t find any kind of flammable material up on that rooftop.”

Li Ping cut in. “There is one more way, but I don’t know if you all agree.”
“Then tell us, captain.”
Li Ping pulled three syringes from his backpack. “This is the latest R-series amplifier. It can instantly heighten every bodily function. It lasts about half an hour. Once that time is up, our bodies are overloaded and the limbs go numb, and it takes about an hour to fight through and move normally again.”
“Bro, where did you even get these?” Li Ning asked, suspicious as he looked at them.
“Don’t ask where. Ningning, when the three of us hit exhaustion and enter recovery, you guard us,” Li Ping said, then handed out the injectors. He injected himself, and Li Jianwen and Zhang Zhihao quickly followed suit.
Within moments the three of them were charged to the brim with strength. Li Jianwen picked up a hose and tried it—and bent it outright. The display of raw power drew everyone’s attention.
Once the enhancers took full effect, the three became untamable, like wild horses gone rogue. Even against the plant beast, it was no longer a match. Li Ning watched in stunned silence as they knocked that huge creature down one strike at a time. She remembered how hard it had been for Du Bin to deal with it aboard the freighter.
Since then, she had begun to suspect her brother had ties to those people, though she had no proof.
At Moxing Tower, Yaso received new information and came to Pan’s side. “Wang, the Ten Braves have been completely wiped out. The young lady is also wounded by the Crimson Blade, so it seems her mixed blood has not weakened her bloodline at all.”
“How is she now?” Pan asked, his voice cold, though a trace of concern leaked through.
“They’re near the Liwan Cellar Gate, and they seem to want to recover there.”
“Order all subordinates to redeploy. No one is to loiter there.”
“Yes.”
Yaso withdrew at once.
