Chapter 69: The Kill Order

With a few instigators leading the charge, the crowd began to voice their support one after another. For them, the parallel structure of the world was their dream, but if the vampires disrupted the equilibrium among the gifted, then eradication was the only option. As the representative for the Japan region, Nakaoka Raku bore a heavy responsibility. Although she cherished a mutual understanding with Ye Tang and knew well that she was being manipulated by the leader, she was helpless to offer overt assistance now.
At the height of the commotion, someone hurriedly ran in. “Master YOYO, the elders have used their detection techniques and finally located the vampire. She’s currently near the Matsusolore Islands.”
“Everyone, let’s set out to hunt the vampire.” With YOYO taking the lead, the others followed, all heading to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Du Bin, lost in the warmth of romance, had completely forgotten his duties. Hu Guozheng, having received news from HU, intended to inform Du Bin, but this fellow was nowhere to be found and had his phone switched off.
“Damn, this romantic free spirit is lost in love again.” Hu Guozheng knew that ever since Du Bin got back together with Fang Yilin, the two were inseparable. What irritated him most was that Du Bin showed no interest in any news about Ye Tang.
The two lovers spent their days enjoying themselves as usual, and when tired, they’d rest at the Starbucks in Tianhe City. Laughter and conversation filled the air, but as Du Bin gazed out the window, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing.
Fang Yilin noticed his distraction. She knew he was thinking of that other girl, so she moved closer and leaned against him. “What are you thinking about, so lost in thought?”
Du Bin snapped back to reality, pulled her into his arms, and smiled. “Nothing, just looking at the view.”
“The view? It’s nothing but skyscrapers and bustling crowds—what’s so interesting about that?”
Feeling a bit awkward, Du Bin changed the subject. “I suddenly feel like playing some games. Let’s check out the arcade on the seventh floor.”
“Sure!” And so, hand in hand, they left, unaware that not far behind, Hu Guozheng and Li Ning were watching them.
“Look at him, right back in the whirlpool of romance. Honestly, I’ve never liked his girlfriend—she’s too controlling.”
Li Ning curled her lip in annoyance. “I can’t be bothered with him. If he gets himself in trouble, it’s none of my business.”
“Still, I have to talk to him and see where he stands. If he refuses to act, I’ll go with you all to rescue her,” Hu Guozheng said as he went to pay the bill, then followed after the couple.

The arcade was filled with all sorts of mini-games. They started with the ring toss, where Du Bin tried his hardest and failed every time. Meanwhile, Fang Yilin casually threw one and won the first prize, leaving him utterly bewildered.
Fang Yilin was delighted with the large pink teddy bear she won—it was big enough to use as a pillow. Afterward, they competed at basketball, shooting games, and the jazz drum set, playing for nearly an hour.
With only a few tokens left and unsure what to play, Du Bin noticed several pretty girls dancing at the dance machine. He said, “Lin, do you remember when you used to dance? It’s been years since I’ve seen you. Why not show me a few moves today?”
At first, she refused—since starting work, she hadn’t had time to dance, and she felt awkward performing in front of so many people. But unable to resist his coaxing, she finally agreed.
The dancers soon finished their set, and Du Bin inserted the tokens. Fang Yilin, visibly nervous, stepped onto the dance pad and randomly chose an English DJ song, unsure of the steps since she’d never played there before.
As the music began, she awkwardly followed the prompts at first, but as she gradually got used to it, she began to let loose, as if returning to her former self. Many passersby stopped to watch, some even taking short videos on their phones. The two girls who had danced earlier applauded enthusiastically.
Halfway through the song, Du Bin was pulled aside by two people—it was Hu Guozheng and Li Ning. He looked at them in surprise. “What are you two doing here?”
Hu Guozheng pushed him up against the wall. “I’m here to tell you the latest about the Hunter Family, yet you’re out here playing around with her, phone switched off. I just want to know what you’re thinking.”
“So, what’s the news?” Du Bin asked, noting their mysterious demeanor.
“The Hunter Family has found her. They’re all flying to the Philippines as we speak,” Hu Guozheng said, watching for Du Bin’s reaction. But Du Bin seemed unmoved, lacking the recklessness he once had.
Li Ning stood before him and said, “Our Special Investigation Team leaves tonight at nine. Are you coming or not?”
“If I leave now, I’m worried she’ll overthink it. She’s been hurt before and is very sensitive. I’m sorry, I probably can’t go,” Du Bin replied, his eyes flickering with uncertainty. He worried Fang Yilin might get jealous or anxious if he left her behind.
Hu Guozheng was deeply disappointed. Even his own notoriously jealous and willful girlfriend, Zheng Shasha, had agreed to let him go rescue someone—yet gentle, considerate Fang Yilin wouldn’t allow it. Left with nothing more to say, he remarked, “Fine, I’ll go with Aunt Lan. You two stay here and enjoy yourselves.”
Furious, Hu Guozheng stormed off. Li Ning, just as disappointed, followed. This had been Du Bin’s request from the start, but now he’d abandoned it after getting back together with his ex. She looked down on him, and all her past affection for him evaporated.

After finishing her dance, Fang Yilin realized Du Bin was missing. She anxiously searched for him and finally found him sitting alone on a bench in a quiet corner. Seeing the trouble weighing on his mind, she reached out and held him in her arms.
“When you disappeared just now, I was so scared—I was afraid you’d suddenly leave me.”
Du Bin lifted his head and gave her a gentle smile. “Silly girl, how could I ever leave you?”
Back at the apartment, Fang Yilin saw an incoming call. She told Du Bin she was going to the supermarket and left. She headed to a quiet street, where a Maserati was parked. She got in.
“I’ve done what you asked. Is there anything else?”
Inside the car, it was none other than Zeng Yilong. “Of course. You’ve done very well these past two days. Here’s five million. For the next month, you must ensure—by any means necessary—that your boyfriend doesn’t leave Guangzhou for the Philippines. Once the rest is accomplished, I’ll give you the remainder. That’s all. You can go now.”
“Don’t worry, boss. I know his temperament after all these years. Besides, there’s no way I’d let my boyfriend go chasing after another woman.” Fang Yilin looked at the money with satisfaction, deposited it in the bank immediately, and happily returned to the apartment.
Zeng Yilong drove away and called Wu Qiwei. “I’ve done what you asked. The one you were concerned about is now stuck in Guangzhou. You can focus on your business.”
“Of course. Still, thank you for your help,” Wu Qiwei replied with a smile.
“All right, I’ll hang up. Wishing you success in your mission.”
“Thank you for your kind words.”
