Chapter 77: Humiliation
“Xiaotang!” Du Bin shouted with all his strength, his battered body trembling with pain. He hated his own cowardice, powerless as he watched the person he cared for teeter on the brink of death.
Suddenly, inspiration struck him. Water could conduct electricity—he had only one chance, a desperate gamble. Facing Dracula, who also wielded lightning, he taunted, “Your lightning isn’t much, is it? You call yourself the God of Thunder? More like the God of Farts, if you ask me.”
“You insolent brat! You must have a death wish!” Enraged by the insult, Dracula summoned lightning and hurled it at him. “Turn to ash!”
The massive bolt struck Du Bin. At first, he was seared by the outer edge of the power, but then he became immune. “A year strapped to a high-voltage tower taught me a thing or two,” he murmured.
With those words, a magic array enveloped the island. Using Dracula’s lightning as the catalyst, Du Bin activated the Heavenly Thunder Formation. An abnormal magnetic field twisted the very fabric of space, and countless bolts of lightning raced across the island.
YOYO was surprised by the formation, but no matter how the lightning raged, it could not touch her body. The other supernaturals, lacking her immunity, suffered from the onslaught. Dracula tried to cut off his own power, but it was ceaselessly drawn into Du Bin.
Du Bin channeled the lightning into the water. All the sea creatures shuddered at the shock. Fearing for Ye Tang, he held back from releasing the full force, but it was still enough to hurt Mengqi, the liquid manipulator.
Ye Tang seized the opportunity as Mengqi convulsed, breaking free from her bonds and swimming desperately for shore. She collapsed on a pile of rubble, gasping for breath.
“If this is all it takes to hurt you, how pathetic!” YOYO sneered, unsheathing her crimson-bladed sword and unleashing a barrage of crescent sword auras at Du Bin.
Each arc struck with crushing force, old wounds reopening and new ones blooming. Du Bin was knocked to the ground, the Thunder Formation collapsing as he lost his strength. The supernaturals, now freed, hurried to purge the electricity from their bodies.
YOYO approached Du Bin, her blade raised. Ye Tang, seeing him lying in a pool of blood, about to be killed for her sake, panicked. He had used a formation he hadn’t mastered to save her, and now he faced mortal danger. Ignoring the mocking jeers of the crowd, she raced to him.
As the sword fell, Ye Tang caught the blade in both hands, stopping it from piercing Du Bin’s heart. The sword’s innate power against vampires wracked her with agony, but she refused to let go. Blood dripped down the blade, staining Du Bin’s body.
“Let go,” YOYO said sternly.
The power of the crimson blade sent waves of pain through Ye Tang, her wounds refusing to close. “I won’t,” she answered.
“Oh my, who would have thought even a ruthless vampire could be moved by love!”
“Of course! Vampires need men too!”
The supernaturals’ taunts grew more and more coarse, and faced with their scorn and Du Bin’s grievous injuries, Ye Tang’s anger finally erupted, tears mingling with her rage. This was the injustice between vampires and humans—ostracized and hunted simply for being different. She pitied those vampires who had died by her hand.
“Xiaotang…” Du Bin’s heart twisted as he saw her crying for him.
Sensing something amiss, YOYO yanked her sword free and retreated. As Ye Tang’s grief deepened, an aura flickered around her. The power long suppressed by her necklace grew restless. With a cry, the seal shattered, and a wicked gale roared forth.
The supernaturals were nearly suffocated by the oppressive aura. YOYO watched with anticipation. “At last,” she murmured.
Clouds gathered, darkening the sky. Enveloped in a red mist, Ye Tang’s wounds healed rapidly. This time, she did not transform into her vampiric form, surprising YOYO. The blood-red barrier shattered with a violent explosion, flinging several supernaturals back.
Elsewhere, more and more supernaturals closed in on Nakajima Le’er’s group. Even with ninja support, they could not break free, their powers nearly spent. Suddenly, a wave of evil energy swept over them. Aunt Lan, having just fended off another attack, froze. “This is bad! We’ve miscalculated—the enemy didn’t fall for the trap. That’s Xiaotang’s power—they’re fighting over there. This is your rotten idea, you fat oaf!”
“Hey, how is this my fault?” Hu Guozheng pouted in protest.
A current flashed through their minds. Far away, five figures in black robes halted. Simultaneously, they sensed the power. “Master, it has appeared.”
The man in the center nodded. With a resounding crack, blood-red wings burst from his robe. He shot toward the source of the power at breakneck speed, the others following as best they could.
Faced with Ye Tang’s overwhelming strength, a dozen supernaturals hesitated—their lives outweighed loyalty. YOYO saw their fear; she’d known all along these people were only fair-weather friends.
With lightning speed, she closed in. Ye Tang roared, winds whipping forth. YOYO was flung into the air, but quickly righted herself and landed safely.
“Ice Spike Scattershot!” Focusing her power, YOYO launched a barrage of ice spikes like a hail of bullets.
Fearing for Du Bin’s safety amid the onslaught, Ye Tang veered away, darting and leaping as the ice spikes detonated behind her, sending waves crashing over the sea.
“Out of the way!” YOYO commanded. The supernaturals retreated behind her as she spread her hands, raising two fingers. The sea surged and with a thunderous roar, five water dragons burst forth.
The display of controlling five dragons at once left the others in awe—Mengqi, especially, felt humbled.
Meanwhile, in a luxurious apartment in Guangzhou, the notes of a piano flowed gracefully. Zeng Yilong, cradling a wine glass, closed his eyes to savor the melody. Not far away, Wu Qiwei played with an effortless mastery born of years of brilliance.
The music soared from tranquility to passion before gently subsiding. At its end, Wu Qiwei smiled. “It’s time for me to leave.”
“Isn’t it a bit late to leave now?”
“Not at all. I have a private jet,” Wu Qiwei replied, rising to go. On the rooftop, he whistled sharply. Soon, a woman with black wings descended from the night sky. She reached out, taking his hand and lifting him off the ground.
“Master, where to?”
“Okinawa.”
She showed no reaction, so he continued, “Linglong, you’ll meet that person soon. Aren’t you nervous?”
“My life is yours, Master. Even in death, I will follow you to the end,” she replied impassively, as if her past no longer concerned her.
“Good girl. I haven’t cherished you all these years for nothing.” Wu Qiwei embraced her, kissing her in midair.
