Chapter 132: Our Wu Family is finished!
"I remember warning you back at your company that you would suffer dearly if you crossed me again. It seems you have a short memory!"
Su Zheng looked down at him coldly, his expression icy. He then gritted his teeth and added, "Rest assured, I won't kill you myself; it would dirty my hands. Whether you survive or not depends entirely on your own fate."
With that, he gestured toward the thugs who had been dragged over by Qiao Lan's men. "You had better pray that their organization lets you off the hook."
"Uh... them... you... what have you done?!" Wu Chenghao asked, his face filled with panic.
"You don't need to know." Su Zheng glanced at him and crushed the thug's phone in his hand.
"Thud!"
Wu Chenghao collapsed to the ground, a look of profound despair and terror washing over him. He knew he was finished, and that he might even bring ruin upon his parents.
"Screech..."
Just then, several cars arrived in the distance. A group of men stepped out and hurried toward the scene. However, before they could get close, the glare of the spotlights blinded them, forcing them to halt.
"Who is so bold? Whose people are you?!" An angry, middle-aged voice rang out. "Hmph! The Wu family is not so easily bullied. If you have a grievance, come at me!"
Wu Chenghao's father, Wu Mingcheng, had rushed over after receiving a phone call claiming his son had offended someone and was forced to offer an apology at the southern quarry, demanding that the father come to receive his punishment as well. Enraged, Wu Mingcheng had immediately gathered his men and raced to the scene.
"Dad! Quick... take me away, something terrible has happened!" Seeing his father arrive, Wu Chenghao felt no relief, only greater terror. He urged him on weakly.
"Don't worry, Chenghao. Not a single person here who laid a hand on you is leaving!" Seeing his son's miserable state, Wu Mingcheng was even more incensed, his face hardening with malice.
"I hope you can still say those words in a moment!"
Su Zheng stepped out from the shadows, his gaze frigid as he looked at Wu Mingcheng.
"What kind of thing are you? Are you the one who hurt my son? Damn it, I’ll kill you!"
Consumed by rage, Wu Mingcheng prepared to order his men to seize Su Zheng. But before he could, Qiao Lan's remaining men and Old Liu appeared, swiftly and cleanly subduing his group without a single one escaping.
"Who exactly are you? Why go against the Wu family? I’m telling you, this will not end well for you!" Wu Mingcheng’s face froze. Unable to see exactly how many people were in the darkness beyond the lights, his tone lost some of its bravado, though he still brandished the Wu family name.
As he spoke, he reached for his phone to call for reinforcements, but none of his calls went through. His heart sank.
Su Zheng watched his movements with cold eyes and spoke calmly: "Don't waste your effort. After tonight, the Wu family will be erased from Qingyang! If you want to blame someone, blame yourself for raising such a fine son."
Having said this, he turned and walked away. As for the fate of Wu Chenghao’s family, he was certain that death would be a mercy they might struggle to find.
Just moments ago, while waiting for Wu Chenghao to arrive, Su Zheng had used the thug's phone to send a message to the Shadow headquarters, stating that Wu Chenghao had provided false information, leading to the death of their operatives. Su Zheng was confident that the members of Shadow would not let the father and son go.
"Clean up the scene. Let's go."
After giving the order to Old Liu, Su Zheng climbed into a car. The latter nodded, signaled to his men, and drove Su Zheng off into the night.
"You can't leave! Wait—"
Wu Mingcheng tried to stop him, but before he could finish, his phone rang. His wife’s sobbing voice came through.
"Mingcheng, it's over, everything is over, boohoo..."
"Stop crying! What happened? Tell me!" Wu Mingcheng, sensing that something was terribly wrong, roared.
"Someone called... they said Chenghao offended a friend of Qiao Lan, the owner of Yishouxuan. They told us to get out of Qingyang overnight, or else... or else... boohoo..."
Before she could finish, she broke down in tears, filled with immense panic and despair.
"Ah!"
Hearing the news, Wu Mingcheng dropped his phone; his face turned to stone. He had never imagined his good-for-nothing son would offend Qiao Lan, the proprietor of Yishouxuan. Was this not digging his own grave?
"You... you bastard! Tell me exactly what happened! I need to know how to beg Manager Qiao for mercy tomorrow!" Wu Mingcheng glared at his son on the ground, no longer even sparing a glance for Su Zheng.
"Dad! Forget about Yishouxuan for a second! Hurry and take me away to save my life, it'll be too late!" Wu Chenghao’s face was deathly pale, his lips trembling. He was far more terrified of the pursuit by Shadow.
"What is going on?! Tell me, damn you!" Wu Mingcheng shuddered again. He realized this wasn't simple; his son must have caused even more trouble.
"Shadow... the people from Shadow, they must have misunderstood me. I originally intended to..."
As Wu Chenghao stuttered through the sequence of events, his father slapped him hard across the face.
"You bastard! You absolute fool! You... you are going to get our whole family killed!" Wu Mingcheng trembled with rage. At this moment, he fully understood that the Wu family was truly finished.
Leaving the quarry, Su Zheng received a message from Chen Muxue on his way to the hospital, asking if his mother had been found. Su Zheng smiled faintly and replied that she shouldn't worry; his mother had just gone out to buy some things and was fine. He did not tell her the details to avoid causing her unnecessary alarm.
When he arrived at the hospital, his mother had already woken up. She was generally unharmed, though she remained emotionally unstable from the shock. Su Zheng sat by her bed, examined her again to ensure she was healthy, and chatted with her for a while, lying that the attackers were merely a gang of roaming bandits who had already been turned over to the authorities to rot in jail.
Still shaken, Yu Qiulei looked at Su Zheng with a reproachful gaze. "Xiao Zheng, you cannot be so reckless next time, do you hear? If my old bones are gone, so be it, but if something were to happen to you, how could I ever face your father?"
"Mom, Dad doesn't even acknowledge me anymore. Why bring him up?" Su Zheng said, his voice laced with irritation.
He had always held a grudge against his father, who had left without a word years ago, taking his younger sister who was still in school at the time. There had been no word from them since; he had never shown his face in all these years.
