Chapter 89: Survival Is Not a Solo Matter
The crowd cooperated fully, and Qin Hao quickly distributed the star-energy crystals. Night was about to fall.
On the night of the second disaster, a spatial black hole was destined to open and release predatory creatures.
Qin Hao had struggled through the day, but by nightfall everything would return to what it had been before.
A voodoo demon would appear every day, and the zombies would remain.
Zi Hui had already recorded a new video and released it, broadcasting across the country, urging the heroes to hunt the voodoo demons first; otherwise, a tide of zombies would erupt.
She had done all she could, yet the disaster had not stopped.
In the face of calamity, the power of any single person was simply too small.
“Qin Hao, do you have any plans for tonight?” Zi Hui asked.
Qin Hao pondered briefly, and in the end decided not to reveal too much. He said with perfect reason, “Opening a spatial black hole requires a great deal of star energy. The first release of predatory creatures is on a large scale, but after that, the number of creatures sent through the black hole is not great. I’ll focus on hunting the creatures of the Ancient Demon Civilization.”
“Qin Hao, I know you like to act alone, but sometimes the strength of the many is greater. Time is urgent now, so everyone has to work together. After all, survival is not something one person can manage alone.”
Qin Hao’s heart moved at Zi Hui’s words.
Last time he had hunted the creatures alone only because there had been very few people who could help.
But now, the heroes present were not weak. More importantly, they had battle experience now; they were no longer the sort to cower before monsters.
So, could he let these people help, and thereby shorten the time required?
“What do you think?” Qin Hao looked at the others.
“Mr. Qin, just give the order and I’ll do it. My life was given to me by you,” Xu Qian replied calmly.
“Mr. Qin, we are all members of the Sky Dome. Whatever you need, just say the word. We will definitely do it,” Sun Qianqian said from the side.
Zi Hui also nodded firmly, and even laid out her own plan.
“I’ve killed ten thousand fanged demons and snake demons before, so I know about the curse. If the invading civilizations all carry curses, then what we need to do now is let you kill a large number of flame demons, then find the spatial black hole of the Ancient Demon Civilization and make them only dare to send wind demons. Once all the wind demons are killed, voodoo demons can appear. Back when you wiped out the poisonous spider demons of the Claw Civilization, you were able to kill them all. The voodoo demons should be no exception. As long as this species is exterminated, the crisis across the world can be lifted!”
Qin Hao had naturally considered the same thing.
But the voodoo demons were not as few in number as he had imagined. The Ancient Demon Civilization was different from the Claw Civilization; the voodoo demons being sent now were only juvenile voodoo demons. Mature voodoo demons were third-tier evolved predatory creatures.
But Qin Hao knew that no matter how many voodoo demons there were, he had to kill them all.
“In that case, those taking part in this operation will receive star-energy crystals later, according to their proportion of contribution. For now, let’s settle on a plan.”
The voodoo demons’ poison was terrifying. If this battle broke out in the city, then even if the voodoo demons were eventually killed, the virus concentration within the City of Magic would be even more dreadful than in other cities.
So Qin Hao felt it would be best to choose a sparsely populated suburb.
In truth, this place would do.
It was the highway leading to the northern capital. On both sides stretched wheat fields, the area broad and empty, with no one living nearby.
But to carry out Qin Hao’s plan, they needed to cause a great deal of beast deaths before the spatial black hole opened.
The invading civilization would detect the number of predatory creatures that had died in this region, and then open the spatial black hole to release new predatory creatures.
Qin Hao’s plan was to establish a trap once more amid this stretch of wheat fields: first, build a cage from which none of the predatory creatures could escape; then send people to lure them over. When the time came, they could be killed all at once, achieving the desired result.
Before long, the plan was finalized. There were actually as many as one hundred and twenty heroes taking part, and of these people, aside from those already from the Sky Dome base, the remaining heroes also intended to join the Sky Dome base.
That was enough.
“You go lure the beasts over. I’ll start setting the trap.”
Around the wheat fields in the wilderness, there was also a river, which was a good thing for Qin Hao.
He stood beside the river and summoned the water.
Since Qin Hao controlled water-element abilities, he could already condense water out of thin air, and beside a river it was even easier.
As the water rose, Qin Hao shifted the force of thought once more, condensing it into ice.
Together with the soil, it formed a towering sheet of solid ice, two meters thick and four meters high.
At times, ice could be far more resilient than one might think.
Qin Hao constructed an ice-wall cage four hundred meters long, leaving an opening of about twenty meters, and waited for the others to draw the beasts in.
As darkness deepened, the creatures of the Claw Alliance grew increasingly active.
The flame demons dispatched by the Ancient Demon Civilization glowed with red light, drawing the predatory creatures of the Claw Civilization to gather around them. As though bound by some divine law, these predatory creatures did not attack one another.
Their target was the same: humanity.
Especially the heroes among humanity.
“Idiots, come chase me!” a hero roared.
The predatory creatures heard the cry and stirred at once. Sensing the hero’s aura, they immediately gave chase.
Not all predatory creatures were like those of the Claw Civilization. Some were born on planets close to their star, and the laws of life made them active by day and dormant by night. The flame demons were just such creatures, but under the deliberate guidance of the heroes, these flame demons would also follow along.
Of course, there were naturally moments when danger loomed. If things became too perilous, they would abandon the lure and flee for their lives.
After all, at this point the creatures in the city included not only flame demons, but also stronger wind demons, frog-men, and others.
One hundred and twenty heroes worked together in groups, and soon drew many predatory creatures out of the city.
On the highway, the heroes ran at full speed, with predatory creatures pursuing behind them.
Several iron-thread worms were incredibly fast, while the flame demons were slower.
“Get lost!” Xu Qian snorted coldly, swinging the mantis-blade weapon forged from the forelimbs of a second-tier claw-tribe insect at the iron-thread worms.
With a harsh snap, the iron-thread worms’ hard carapaces were torn open at once, their bodies split in two.
With those two creatures gone, her speed also dropped, and she continued luring the flame demons onward.
Just then, Xu Qian saw firelight flickering ahead, with well over a hundred flame demons moving forward, though their posture looked awkward.
She ran on for a stretch before finally seeing the scene ahead.
Zi Hui was commanding a squad of death puppets, dragging the dying flame demons forward.
Among that death squad were giant crab beasts, devourers, wind demons, and even frog-men.
Zi Hui had now reached the third tier of mental evolution, and controlling over a hundred predatory creatures was no challenge at all. She used the death puppets to control the flame demons and bring them here with effortless ease.
