It was unimaginable how the audience inside had managed to endure for more than ten minutes against such terrifying monsters. What the armed police outside didn’t know was that every spectator inside had been infused with starlight energy by Zi Hui, greatly enhancing their abilities—they were no longer ordinary people.

“Retreat, pull back!” the order came.

The police only had small handguns, riot shields, and similar equipment. Killing just one Fang Demon had already emptied their ammunition and left over twenty officers injured. They needed to devise another plan.

Inside the grand theater, humanity, cornered and desperate, erupted with astonishing strength. They fought back fiercely, banding together to battle these dreadful creatures. With Zi Hui’s added strength, the several hundred people who hadn’t escaped became even more formidable, turning the tables and beginning to slaughter the Fang Demons in return.

Qin Hao was naturally shocked by this outcome—it was something he had never anticipated. Fang Demons continued to pour from the spatial black hole, but they were being cleared out one by one.

The death toll for the Fang Demons reached five hundred.

Eight hundred.

Fifteen hundred.

Two thousand.

When the number reached this point, the spatial black hole stopped disgorging more Fang Demons. The battlefield was a scene of utter devastation; everyone was exhausted beyond measure. The few remaining Fang Demons were dispatched as the survivors gritted their teeth and pressed on.

Was it over?

Yet the spatial black hole had not vanished; instead, it seemed to be brewing something. A sense of foreboding rose suddenly in Qin Hao’s heart.

“Ding! Mission Predictor activated! Main mission change detected, to be updated in 10 minutes.”

[Survival—Advanced]

Your strength has drawn the attention of the Alien Invasion Alliance: the Claw Civilization.

This civilization is the origin of the first wave of invading creatures. You have killed too many Fang Demons, proving yourself far stronger than their kind. The enemy will now dispatch even more powerful beings to attack.

Mission Completion Condition: Defeat stronger foes and survive.

Fixed Mission Reward: 1,000 Hero Points.

Stronger beings?

The Claw Civilization was one of the weaker forces within the interstellar invasion alliance. Their advantage was sheer numbers, but they weren’t difficult to deal with; their main effect had been to create trouble for humanity in the early stages. This civilization was like rats in the sewers—sneaky, vexing, and universally despised.

Though advanced missions offered better rewards, the danger increased exponentially. The Claw Civilization was breaking the rules. In Chinese terms, they were outright cheating.

Their aim was obvious: to kill Qin Hao and Zi Hui, claim the Hero Points—or faith power—contained within them, and even sabotage the Peace Alliance’s support plan. For if no one survived, the Peace Alliance would lose its right to assist here, and humanity would be left to perish alone. Then, nothing would remain to stop the Invasion Alliance. Within a year, the human race would likely be wiped out.

The Claw Alliance sought to seize the starlight energy through such means, but Qin Hao would not let them succeed.

“Everyone evacuate! We have only ten minutes!” Qin Hao shouted.

Zi Hui looked at him. “What do you know?”

She had no idea when this mission would end; perhaps this was just a brief respite for the heroes. But Qin Hao had stated an exact time, which seemed suspicious.

“I bought a Mission Predictor. It lets me foresee mission changes. In ten minutes, it will shift again—and next time, these people who just received the starlight energy won’t be able to handle it.”

Zi Hui immediately checked her own Hero Shop, then said in confusion, “I don’t have that item.”

“Everyone’s is probably different,” Qin Hao explained.

Recalling Qin Hao’s gold-element abilities, Zi Hui nodded.

As the two spoke, the remaining two hundred people, though confused, understood that Qin Hao and Zi Hui were the strongest among them.

After the fight, many were overcome with emotion and could no longer hold back. They shouted,

“What are you talking about? What is going on here?”

“Yes, Zi Hui, tell us—what’s happening? Is this the end of the world?”

“Zi Hui, are you a goddess or something?”

They were struggling to accept it all. Some had come with friends, others had joined Zi Hui’s fan club online—fans united by their admiration for the same idol. But now, the ones who had cheered moments ago were dead. How could they not feel devastated?

Zi Hui looked at them. She knew that if these people stayed, their presence in the coming battle would strengthen her again. But so many fans had died—didn’t that weigh on her heart?

In the future, she would likely face blame from the families and friends of her fallen fans. The pressure was immense.

“All of you, leave!” Zi Hui said.

Some among them were her most devoted fans. They immediately shouted, “Zi Hui, we’re not leaving!”

“We want to protect you, big sister!”

“Zi Hui, I’ll stay and fight by your side!”

But Zi Hui suddenly cried out, “If you’re my fans, then go—all of you! Seal off the theater, don’t let the police or the army come in and throw their lives away. Wait outside, watch the livestream, keep an eye on my news. If I die, you can avenge me then, but don’t die here. Staying alive is the greatest help you can give me.”

But the fans were unwilling, and did not understand.

Even in a world not yet fallen, some fans would obsess over their idols, desperate to speak to them, to have just one more word. With two hundred people here, how could they all listen?

At that moment, Qin Hao spoke. “You must survive. From today, you are all Awakened, gifted with abilities. Zi Hui has given you power; in the coming catastrophe, you’ll see how precious this gift is. Until the world truly loses all law and morality, Zi Hui will be blamed for everything. If you die, who will protect her then?”

“What’s more, the number of monsters corresponds to the number of people. The more of you that stay, the more monsters there will be. Do you want Zi Hui to die?”

Their faces finally changed.

Most importantly, Qin Hao’s voice, infused with starlight energy, rang like a great bell in their ears—impossible to resist, impossible to ignore.

“You’ve already wasted three minutes. There are seven minutes left. Go, now.”

“We have to go—don’t drag Zi Hui down,” shouted a woman in her twenties.

With one person taking the lead, the rest followed suit. Some sought out the wounded who remained alive, carrying them out to save whoever could still be saved.

“Tell the police—don’t let them come in,” Qin Hao reminded them again.

The fans all nodded.

Once they had all left, only corpses remained—both Fang Demons and humans.

As they departed, Zi Hui looked at Qin Hao, walked over, and extended her hand.

“Hello, let’s meet again properly. My name is Zi Hui,” she said with a wry smile, her voice tinged with irony. “Hero Number: 9.”
