Chapter 6: The Heir Seeks a Master
The four of them squeezed into the forty-square-meter space, making it feel extremely cramped.
Yet none of them complained.
Soon after, Lei Yunzhou noticed the crude dagger hanging on the wall.
“Hiss! What is this made of?”
He saw a label on the metal—it was strikingly familiar, the kind used to scan at many malls, indicating it was iron. This thing was once a thermos bottle.
Good heavens, Lei Yunzhou was so shocked he was at a loss for words.
Who on earth was this extraordinary person?
“Mr. Qin, Brother Qin, do you really know inner energy techniques? Are you from some martial sect? What do you think of my talent—could I become your disciple?”
Lei Yunzhou was beside himself with excitement.
What man hasn’t dreamed of being a martial hero?
To be strong enough to fear nothing—who wouldn’t desire that?
Qin Hao replied, “Did you come here to become my disciples?”
An Shiyue glanced at Qin Hao’s expression—it had remained indifferent and even a bit cold from the beginning, which made her uneasy.
She had come to express her gratitude, but hadn’t expected her savior to be so aloof.
Only now did An Shiyue realize the reason she couldn’t reach Qin Hao by phone wasn’t because something bad had happened to him, but because he didn’t want to be found.
“Mr. Qin Hao, I’m truly sorry to disturb you, but I really wanted to thank you. Here’s one hundred thousand Huaxia yuan—I hope you’ll accept it.”
Qin Hao looked at the thick stack of cash. At this moment, he himself was penniless.
Even if, in ten days, this money would be worthless, for now, it was still useful.
“Also, Mr. Qin Hao, do you take disciples? If you do, I can offer a million as my apprentice fee,” Lei Yunzhou said enthusiastically.
Qin Hao raised an eyebrow at his words.
“You’re very wealthy?”
“My father is Lei Ruhai—have you heard of Jinhai Group? It’s quite famous around here.”
Famous was an understatement; it was beyond famous.
Jinhai Group built luxury housing complexes. In Yangchuan, a third-tier city, each square meter went for twenty-one thousand.
“I know. Mr. Qin Hao, you’re a master untouched by worldly things and see money as mere dirt. However, someone like you shouldn’t be living in a place like this. If you take me as your disciple, I’ll serve you faithfully. If you ever need anything, just say the word, and I’ll make it happen.”
Hearing this, Qin Hao was suddenly struck by an idea.
“I don’t take disciples, but if you’re willing to provide some things, I can teach you a martial technique.” Qin Hao listed the requirements: “Ten cows, ten pigs, ten eagles, one hundred frogs, and one hundred bats.”
Lei Yunzhou listened. The cows and pigs were easy enough—money could buy them. But eagles were a different matter.
And what was with the frogs and bats?
Yet, his thirst for martial power was so great that Lei Yunzhou agreed without hesitation.
“Alright, I’ll contact someone immediately.”
Qin Hao added, “They must be alive.”
Having already agreed, Lei Yunzhou wouldn’t go back on his word. Whether alive or dead made little difference to him.
It was then that they exchanged contact information with Qin Hao.
At that moment, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed up the stairwell outside. The old apartment building was far from soundproof.
Qin Hao’s gaze landed on the door. He extended his mental senses and detected the people outside.
They were two police officers—one holding a microphone, the other carrying a camera.
Reporters.
Qin Hao’s brow furrowed deeply.
If An Shiyue could find him, it was even easier for the police.
But Qin Hao had no desire to deal with them.
“When they come, just say I’ve already left,” he instructed.
With that, Qin Hao vaulted out the window.
“Ah!” An Shiyue cried out in alarm.
“Holy hell! This is the sixth floor!” Lei Yunzhou was shocked as well. He rushed to the window and saw Qin Hao kick off the side wall, shift his body left, step onto the balcony stairs across, then push off to the right again.
After repeating this two or three times, he had descended from the sixth floor.
This didn’t exactly surpass human limits; even movies depicted such feats often.
But movies were movies—who would dare try this in real life?
Qin Hao departed swiftly, leaving An Shiyue and the others inside. Soon, there was a knock at the door.
The bodyguard opened it to find the police and reporters.
An Shiyue and Lei Yunzhou exchanged glances, suddenly understanding why Qin Hao had left.
But how had he known people were coming for him? And that they were looking specifically for him?
In Lei Yunzhou’s mind, Qin Hao became ever more mysterious and powerful.
“Excuse me, is this Qin Hao’s residence? Are you his friends?”
These four clearly didn’t seem like residents here.
Lei Yunzhou took a deep breath and replied, “Mr. Qin doesn’t wish to be disturbed—he’s already gone.”
“He left? When did he leave?”
“Just now—he went out the window.”
The two reporters were stunned.
They wanted to interview Lei Yunzhou, but he refused and left, even shooing the reporters out behind him. Who knew what stories they might invent if left alone?
Still, reporters could be persistent. By the time they managed to leave the complex, half an hour had passed.
Just as they reached their car, a figure emerged from the adjacent building.
It was Qin Hao.
“Mr. Qin.”
“Mm. I’ll leave with you.”
Qin Hao was accustomed to a world without surveillance cameras, and he felt uneasy in a city blanketed with Sky Eye systems. He decided to stick with Lei Yunzhou for now—he had a car and probably lived in a luxury villa, which was much more convenient.
Besides, Lei Yunzhou seemed dependable.
“Mr. Qin, I’ll have people send the pigs and cows over right away. Do you need them now?”
“Yes.”
Qin Hao didn’t want to waste any time.
Lei Yunzhou made the calls, then instructed his driver to head to the outskirts.
After an hour and a half, they reached Lei Yunzhou’s estate on the city’s edge. Qin Hao saw a large manor sprawled before him.
Within a half-kilometer radius, there was hardly a soul. Trees and small hills shielded the lavish estate, making it resemble a five-star hotel.
Such extravagance was the norm for those in construction: even private manors were opulent.
For the wealthy, places like this were simply for retirement and vacation. Lei Yunzhou’s father, Lei Ruhai, was still in his prime and busy with the company, so most of the time, it was Lei Yunzhou entertaining his playboy friends here.
But today, the gatekeepers and staff witnessed a strange sight.
A reeking truck drove into the estate, loaded with ten pigs, followed by another truck carrying cows.
What on earth was this about?
Lei Yunzhou had the trucks unload in the warehouse, releasing the pigs and cows inside.
“Mr. Qin, is there anything else you need?”
“No, you can all leave now.”
Though Lei Yunzhou was intensely curious, he could only step outside.
