Chapter 103: Sinful, Sinful!
What should I do? Fang Yujia felt conflicted. If she moved her younger brother-in-law directly, it would surely wake him. But keeping things as they were was unbearable for her.
She picked up a cushion beside the sofa and gently lifted Xiao Cheng’s head. As soon as she did, he stirred.
His brow was furrowed tightly, teeth clenched so hard that his cheeks puffed out in painful little bulges. The expression on his face was one of intense suffering. Fang Yujia frowned slightly, unable to guess what kind of dream he was having, but it was clear from his expression that it was a tormenting one.
Seeing this, her heart softened a little. But letting him continue to sleep like this wouldn’t do. She carefully continued to slide the cushion bit by bit under Xiao Cheng’s head.
Suddenly, he let out a low, pained hum and whispered, “Yu’er… Yu’er…”
The voice was both a call and a murmur to himself. Hearing this pierced Fang Yujia’s heart like a sharp needle, and her hands froze.
What was Xiao Cheng dreaming about? Why was he calling her name over and over?
As the saying goes, what one thinks about during the day appears in their dreams at night. Could it be that Xiao Cheng had been worrying about her safety all along, and that was why his dream was so agonizing?
He continued to call her name, his limbs moving restlessly like a drowning man. Suddenly, he reached over his shoulder with both hands and tightly embraced Fang Yujia’s waist, turning his head to press close to her abdomen and inhaling deeply.
Startled by his sudden action, Fang Yujia shivered involuntarily as she felt the warmth against her stomach, as if he were kissing her. Her mind went blank.
Only after he smelled her breath did all his movements cease. A peaceful, satisfied smile appeared on his lips before he fell back asleep.
In the past, she would have thought he was taking advantage of her while she was unconscious. But now, she would never believe that. Even in his dreams, he was concerned for her safety.
Watching him sleep so quietly again, Fang Yujia felt a strange sensation growing inside her. A third-rate philosopher once said that being needed is a heavy kind of happiness. Wasn’t Xiao Cheng needing her now? Didn’t that make her happy?
Since he had done so much for her, what harm was there in letting him rest on her lap for a night? It was nothing at all.
---
Fang Yujia put down the cushion and leaned lightly against the sofa, gazing at Xiao Cheng’s sleeping face. His ordinarily plain features seemed sharper somehow. Her eyes drifted downward, and she froze.
Because of his vigorous movements earlier, the neckline of his T-shirt had been pulled open, revealing a gruesome scar on his back.
It was a terrifying wound. Though mostly healed, the color was still raw—an area of pink flesh the size of a fist, radiating outward, a testament to the severity of the injury.
Fang Yujia reached out, trembling, but dared not touch it. She covered her mouth with one hand, struggling to believe that a single bullet wound could cause such damage. He must have been in excruciating pain.
Seeing this injury made her realize the immense suffering Xiao Cheng endured for her sake. It was unimaginable to her. She had never experienced anything more than a small cut on her finger from a pencil as a child.
To have one’s body pierced like that—how painful it must have been, especially for someone so young and frail, only eighteen years old.
That entire night, Fang Yujia hadn’t slept at all. Xiao Cheng’s heavy breathing kept stirring her uneasily.
As dawn approached, she looked out the window and breathed a slight sigh of relief. It had been the longest, most unbearable night of her life.
She glanced at Xiao Cheng again and noticed his breathing was even, clearly he had slept well. When her eyes fell to his lower body, her fair face flushed violently, cheeks blooming with a rosy glow.
A rather impressive bulge had formed beneath his swim shorts.
She wasn’t the kind of woman from a sensational drama who would mistake that for some weapon. Having studied physiology, she understood it was a normal male sexual response.
Everything had been fine all night, so why now? As an inexperienced woman, how could she endure this? She instinctively shifted her body backward.
But her movement was too abrupt and woke Xiao Cheng.
---
Xiao Cheng woke feeling deeply rested. Though he had again dreamed the same tormenting dream as before, it had been interrupted, and he had slipped into a deep, peaceful sleep. Now, opening his eyes, he felt light and clear-headed, with no trace of drunkenness.
He noticed something soft beneath his head that didn’t feel like a pillow. Looking down, he realized he had been sleeping on his sister-in-law’s lap, his arms wrapped tightly around her slim waist, his head pressed close to her stomach.
Had he really slept on her lap all night?
He sat up abruptly and saw her flushed face, nearly bursting with embarrassment. Looking down, he noticed the “tent” forming on his swim trunks and thought, “My bad! My bad!”
“I need to use the bathroom…” Xiao Cheng said hurriedly, standing up and rushing to the restroom.
If his sister-in-law had seen that, it would have been a huge misunderstanding. He had no idea how she might interpret it.
Fang Yujia watched him flustered and blushing as he dashed away, then smiled wryly to herself. She had overreacted earlier—it was just a normal physiological response, nothing shameful.
Xiao Cheng shook his head, unable to remember much from last night except that he had been drunk and passed out on the sofa. But how had he ended up sleeping on his sister-in-law’s lap, holding her waist? That had never happened before.
He certainly never imagined his extremely fastidious sister-in-law would allow such a thing.
He splashed cold water on his face to clear his head, just as a series of urgent knocks came at the door.
It was barely past five in the morning—who could be knocking so early? Xiao Cheng guessed it was probably the security guard.
