Chapter 26: The Mysterious Immortal Armor
“Your Holiness, with the Berserker Immortal stirring up trouble, should we seize this opportunity to eliminate Qin Lang and be rid of that threat once and for all?”
On the edge of a balcony atop an exquisite tower a kilometer away, an elderly woman gazed coldly ahead, her eyes flickering with murderous intent, her aura surging like crashing waves. Beside her, Liu Qingyao watched in silence as people kept fleeing from the Misty Rain Pavilion. She had once been the star performer there—though she sold only her skills, never her body, and even if she had, it would have been mere pretense.
Seeing the advancing soldiers not far away, Liu Qingyao gently shook her head. “Now is not the time. The garrison of Muxian City has arrived. If you act rashly, the Azure Sky Guards will be on high alert.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She continued to stare into the distance, her fists clenching as murderous intent flickered in her eyes. She’d planned to take advantage of the chaos to kill Qin Lang, but the sudden arrival of the Berserker Immortal had forced them to abandon their plan. It seemed they would have to find another opportunity.
Meanwhile, the general of Muxian City led a hundred soldiers to the doors of the Misty Rain Pavilion. Seeing the bloodstains on the ground, the middle-aged man in pitch-black armor scowled deeply. Never did he imagine someone would dare cause trouble on his turf.
“Oh no—”
Just as the imposing general led his men inside, a man flew out of the pavilion, crashing heavily to the ground before coughing up blood, nearly losing consciousness. On closer look, the man who’d been hurled out was none other than Tian Hui.
“Bah!” Tian Hui spat out a mouthful of blood as he struggled to his feet—only for his trousers to inexplicably slip down, leaving him in nothing but shorts. Glancing around in a panic and seeing no one, he hurriedly pulled up his pants and tied them with a cord to prevent further embarrassment. Yet as he bent over, he suddenly caught sight of a group of burly men behind him, and he jumped in fright, fumbling to adjust his clothing.
Turning his head, he glared at the crowd. “What are you staring at? Can’t you see my belt came loose?”
Muttering curses under his breath, he turned his gaze back to the Misty Rain Pavilion. “Damn it, if I don’t show some real skills, you’d think I’m a pushover!”
With a thud, Tian Hui drew the scabbard of his greatsword from his storage ring and placed it on the ground. Forming hand seals with both hands, he threw his head back and roared, “Boundless Heaven and Earth! Marvelous Gate Immortal Armor—manifest!”
In an instant, the scabbard shot into the sky and burst apart, transforming into hundreds of small bronze plates that rapidly assembled into inner armor around his body.
Clad in the Immortal Armor, Tian Hui strode back into the pavilion with a fierce aura, leaving the onlookers dumbstruck—especially the city’s garrison general, whose eyes narrowed as he murmured, “How does he have the Marvelous Gate Immortal Armor? Could he be a Monster Hunter…?”
He had barely entered the building when, with a beckoning motion, his greatsword flew into his hand as if summoned. Seeing Liu Man and the others being thrown out one after another, Tian Hui gripped his sword tightly and charged at the formidable middle-aged man.
Blood spurted as Liu Man, coughing up blood, watched Tian Hui join the fray in astonishment. “Marvelous Gate Immortal Armor? Could he be—” His words abruptly cut off, his mind reeling in shock.
Among the Monster Hunters, there were ten legendary artifacts, coveted by all cultivators but known as forbidden treasures. Despite their allure, no one dared attempt to seize them—not for lack of desire, but for sheer fear.
These ten artifacts were bestowed only upon the most outstanding and loyal Monster Hunters. The Marvelous Gate Immortal Armor was one of these famed treasures. Though last in rank, it was arguably the most sought after for its power—every cultivator dreamed of possessing such absolute defense, to become as unkillable as a cockroach.
Qin Lang, watching from nearby, gaped in envy at Tian Hui’s extraordinary equipment—what a marvelous suit of armor!
Curious, Qin Lang turned to Su Momo. “Momo, what is that soft armor Tian Hui is wearing? It looks incredible.”
Su Momo’s expression was grave as she stared at the inner armor. “One of the ten great artifacts of the Monster Hunters—the Marvelous Gate Immortal Armor.”
“Marvelous Gate Immortal Armor?” Qin Lang frowned, utterly confused. “What exactly is that?”
“I’m not entirely sure either.” Su Momo shook her head, her gaze fixed on the battle. “But it’s the stuff of dreams for every cultivator. Unfortunately, since it belongs to the Monster Hunters, most can only admire it from afar.”
The moment he heard it was such a legendary item, Qin Lang’s eyes sparkled with greed—he wished he could snatch it for himself. Of course, that was just a thought; he had no intention of actually stealing from a comrade.
Suddenly, a cold gleam flashed from behind. Su Momo tensed, cold sweat breaking out on her back. Without a word, she kicked Qin Lang five or six meters away.
Sword in hand, Su Momo spun around to meet the incoming threat.
Steel clashed with a thunderous roar, as if two mountains collided. The shockwave swept out, and Su Momo was driven to one knee, her face turning pale.
A new Berserker Immortal had appeared. His aura was frigid, his eyes brimming with murderous intent. The oppressive force radiating from his body seemed to freeze the very blood in one’s veins.
Su Momo was forced down on one knee, barely able to withstand the crushing power.
Qin Lang, who had been sent flying, was about to curse when he saw the new Berserker Immortal bearing down on Su Momo, who had just saved him with that kick. Realizing this, his anger evaporated, replaced by a chill down his spine. Had she not acted, he would have been sliced in two.
Confused and frustrated, Qin Lang muttered, “Damn it, what’s going on? Why does everyone want to take me out?”
Liu Man, who had been about to rejoin the fray, blanched at the arrival of yet another Berserker Immortal. Dealing with one had nearly cost them their lives—now, with a second, they were surely doomed.
But this was no time for despair. Clutching his double-bladed axe, Liu Man rushed to aid Su Momo, who was being pinned to the ground.
