Chapter 103: Are You Out of Your Mind?
Zhan Yu stood up, his gaze icy as he looked at Kuang Shao.
"Are you crazy?" Kuang Shao asked.
Zhan Yu remained silent. In truth, he felt as if he had truly lost his mind. He kept wondering if, had he not acted so abruptly, she might not have left. Or perhaps, if he had just kept watching her, she wouldn't have gone.
Seeing Zhan Yu's silence, Kuang Shao gritted his teeth and said, "What good does it do to just wait? Even if you become a 'Wang Xuan Stone,' she still won't come back."
Kuang Shao expected Zhan Yu to jump up and hit him again, but to his surprise, he remained silent. If Zhan Yu had leapt up, it would have been easier, but this quietness left Kuang Shao at a loss for words. "Her apprentice is still around."
Seeing no reaction from Zhan Yu, Kuang Shao snapped, "Are you stupid? Keep an eye on her apprentice. She can't possibly abandon her own disciple, right?"
Zhan Yu frowned.
Kuang Shao felt like a fool himself, yet he still tried to teach Zhan Yu how to treat women better. "The little chubby girl from the Wanqi family is about to enter the Federation's First Military Academy. Just go guard the school. She'll have to contact her teacher, won't she?"
"Will she?" Zhan Yu asked uncertainly.
Kuang Shao felt that not only he but Zhan Yu’s brain had gone soft. "Of course, she will. The Wanqi family already said that if anything happens, they can still reach her through Wanqi Xuanxuan. Right now, only Wanqi Xuanxuan can find her."
"Then why did she leave?" Zhan Yu said. If her apprentice has learned everything, why did she leave without saying a word to him?
Kuang Shao shrugged. "I haven't seen her for a long time since the last time. I don't know why she left silently. If it weren’t for my strong trust in the Wanqi family, I'd almost think they did her wrong."
Zhan Yu glanced at the distant figure of the girl who had already walked away. To him, she was still the small, chubby girl who shared the same hobbies as her teacher.
Now, she had blossomed into a graceful young lady. Time truly flies.
With a sigh, Zhan Yu logged off immediately.
Kuang Shao stood there dumbfounded. Hey, why did he just log off like that?
Biting the hand that fed him!
He glanced at Wanqi Xuanxuan, who was already far away. It was rude, considering she was almost like a junior sister.
Seeing that Zhan Yu didn’t even greet him, Kuang Shao clenched his teeth. Helpless in the face of these two, he could only log off as well.
After logging off, he realized Zhan Yu had already gone to eat. Kuang Shao himself hadn’t eaten anything yet because of Zhan Yu’s matter.
After finishing his meal, Kuang Shao returned to his starship. Zhan Yu went back to his study and contacted Zhan Shaohua.
"Grandfather."
"What's wrong with you these past two days?" Zhan Shaohua was naturally well-informed about his only grandson.
Zhan Yu pursed his lips and said nothing.
Zhan Shaohua asked, "Are you really so unable to let go of that Xuanxuan?"
Zhan Yu was not surprised that Zhan Shaohua knew. He looked at him with a firm gaze. "Yes."
"I originally thought that outsiders would always harbor ill intentions. But this Xuanxuan..." Zhan Shaohua smiled bitterly. "I just don't understand her."
Zhan Shaohua was a traditional man of the Huaxia clan, or rather, the Zhan family was traditional. But regarding the "Xuanxuan" in the Star Network, Zhan Shaohua had no right to say no. She had done great favors for the Zhan family and the Federation. He sighed and could only say, "Do as you wish."
Zhan Yu’s usually stern face finally softened a little. "Thank you, Grandfather."
"You’d better find her first before talking about anything," Zhan Shaohua said, clearly not optimistic about the mysterious person. "What do you want from me?"
"Grandfather, when I return to the imperial capital, I want to go to the Federation’s First Military Academy," Zhan Yu said.
The people of the Wanqi family were not easy to monitor, especially Wanqi Xuanxuan. Even now, the Wanqi family valued her more and more. Not to mention the Wanqi family, the fact that she was Xuanxuan’s disciple alone made Zhan Yu wary.
The best way was to keep an eye on her at school. No matter what, her movements at school could be controlled. As for the Kuang family, there was Kuang Shao. Only the Wanqi family remained challenging. But since the Zhan, Kuang, and Wanqi families were allied, and Xuanxuan’s teacher influenced the cooperation among the three, if she made any moves, the Wanqi family wouldn’t hide it.
"The Federation’s First Military Academy?" Zhan Shaohua thought for a moment and understood. "You really know how to think."
Zhan Yu looked at him expectantly.
"Going straight to the academy might not be good. You should first go as the chief instructor during the new recruits’ military training," Zhan Shaohua said. He had never refused Zhan Yu’s requests, especially after agreeing to this.
"What about after the training?" Zhan Yu asked. The training only lasted three months. What if Wanqi Xuanxuan didn’t contact her during that time?
Zhan Shaohua chuckled inwardly, amused by his grandson’s concern. But on the surface, he pretended to be stern. "I will handle that later."
"Yes, Grandfather." Zhan Yu nodded. When Grandfather promised something, it was always taken care of.
After Zhan Yu ended the call, Zhan Shaohua sighed slightly. He had known about this for a long time but had not dealt with it, which led to today’s situation. If he had nipped it in the bud when there were only slight signs, who knows if today’s outcome could have been avoided? But there was no "if."
Gathering his spirits, Zhan Yu returned to the imperial capital and could stay for a while. Since he was often away, his wife constantly complained that he was heartless, though it wasn’t him who drove him away.
With Zhan Yu back, the house would be peaceful for a few days.
Unaware that many were thinking of her, Xuanxuan spent a few days hiding online before hearing that Kuang Shao and the others had returned. She sent a message to Kuang Hongyi, who, perhaps forgetting the previous questions Xuanxuan had asked, immediately kicked his own son out to pick her up at their house. Now, the status of Xuanxuan’s disciple far surpassed that of Kuang Shao’s son.
Despite his resentment toward his father, Kuang Shao dared not complain and could only go to the Wanqi family, braving the scowls of Wanqi Yi and Wanqi Lianhao, to fetch Xuanxuan.
Xuanxuan left with the two Wanqi brothers glaring resentfully behind her. They had been grounded like her, their two-month vacation ruined. While Xuanxuan and Kuang Shao were freed, they had no choice but to stay home and study physical arts.
Xuanxuan headed straight to the Kuang family. Although the Wanqi family had several mecha workshops, their manor’s workshop was small and limited in space.
Unlike the Kuang family, whose entire underground courtyard was filled with mecha workshops and repair rooms.
Since Xuanxuan became a disciple, Kuang Hongyi had specially set aside an area as her personal space.
Recently, she had begun crafting mechas herself—not just copying but truly creating. Previously, Kuang Hongyi’s teaching focused mainly on original mecha knowledge and electronics, including intelligence systems.
Kuang Hongyi believed Xuanxuan had infinite creativity but a weak foundation.
Because of this, he thought teaching Xuanxuan had to be tailored to her. She shouldn’t immediately learn how to build mechas on her own. Instead, she needed to study the basics first, then learn from others, imitate them, replicate their strengths and weaknesses, without creating on her own too soon.
Recently, Kuang Hongyi felt he had enough theoretical knowledge to teach her and noticed Xuanxuan often brought him questions he couldn't answer.
That was when Kuang Hongyi let Xuanxuan start making mechas by designing and building them herself. Although her designs had taken shape, there were still issues with the use of mental energy.
After some thought, Xuanxuan decided to return to the starting point. She had first thought of this problem when she saw a simulated mecha. She planned to build a fully mentally controlled simulated mecha.
Carrying several simulated mechas, she headed straight to the lab.
Smiling slightly, she glanced at the metal in her hand. With Zhan Yu nearby, she could just have him do the work; why exhaust herself?
Xuanxuan buried herself in her work, unaware that people couldn’t stand nagging. Zhan Yu was at the Kuang family’s place.
Kuang Shao looked at Zhan Yu, twitching at the corner of his mouth. Was this necessary? Just returning and already staring so closely, and at the Kuang family, where he was still present.
"He’s in the workshop downstairs."
Zhan Yu nodded and, without a word, walked directly there.
Xuanxuan was troubled as she looked at the metal in her hands. To smelt it into the shape she wanted would be a huge hassle. Using metal magic to control it felt exhausting.
Just then, someone knocked on the door. No wonder there’s a saying in the Federation: "Speak of the devil."
She tossed what she was holding to him—a set of blueprints transmitted through mental energy.
Zhan Yu was stunned. He touched the metal in his hand—it felt unreal. The person before him, Wanqi Xuanxuan, looked like herself.
But no matter how much she resembled her, she was still her disciple. After hesitating, Zhan Yu followed the blueprints and shaped the metal into what Xuanxuan wanted.
He was the one who had spoiled her into laziness.
But with such excellent metal affinity and talent, it would be a waste not to let him handle these tasks.
Taking the finished part from Zhan Yu, Xuanxuan sent another set of blueprints to him through mental energy.
Her nimble fingers kept moving, dismantling the simulated mecha piece by piece. It had been constructed years ago on the Star Network, but the initial concept was too simple. She had added many new elements.
Head bowed, she continued her work, occasionally handing Zhan Yu a part or two.
Zhan Yu looked at her and found it hard to believe she had once been the chubby little girl from ten years ago—the one who could never get up from the sofa and focused intensely when eating meat.
Watching her hands dance gracefully, assembling and disassembling parts, within moments, a simulated mecha was fully built.
