Chapter 10: Unlocking a New Dish
Page 1/3
“Xiao Ran, do you want to unlock the newly upgraded recipe?” Hu Hu asked, “But it’s random—you can’t choose which dish to get.”
“Of course I want to unlock it!” Qin Yue Ran rubbed her hands eagerly. “I can’t just eat those three dishes forever…”
Oh, they hardly even counted as real dishes.
Qin Yue Ran teleported into the kitchen and took out the meals ordered by Shi Qingyu and the others.
That’s right, although the food generates automatically in the kitchen, no one except Qin Yue Ran can serve it now.
Qin Yue Ran: QAQ
After delivering the food, she returned to the kitchen and clicked to unlock the recipe. A dazzling light flashed, and she obtained… chicken noodle soup.
Well, at least that sounds like something you can eat for any meal, right?
“Actually, if Xiao Ran knows how to cook or has recipes from your world, you don’t have to rely solely on unlocking them through the system,” Hu Hu popped up again, speaking to the worried Qin Yue Ran.
“The recipes you get from draws, aside from the common ones, are mostly special recipes. If you cook something yourself, it unlocks first, and then future draws will yield only the special recipes you haven’t unlocked yet.”
Qin Yue Ran looked even more troubled. “I’ve been living in the dorm since middle school, eating cafeteria food—I’m not good at cooking. At most, I can make tomato scrambled eggs and soups like seaweed, tomato egg drop, or corn and pork rib soup.”
“That’s fine! Cooking mastery gives a bonus. Don’t worry, Xiao Ran,” Hu Hu comforted her honestly, “Whatever you make tastes delicious anyway.”
“Really? That’s great!” Qin Yue Ran’s eyes lit up. “This game really has high freedom!”
Hu Hu wanted to say this isn’t a game, but then thought for Qin Yue Ran, it might as well be one and let it go.
Looking closer, Qin Yue Ran had already taken out the ingredients and started cooking.
Sure enough, she was skilled and confident, instinctively knowing how much seasoning to add and how to handle the ingredients.
Over an hour later, Qin Yue Ran put the freshly made dishes up for sale at the restaurant, of course including the indispensable rice.
At this moment, she was full of confidence, planning to arrange dishes from all eight major Chinese cuisines.
She believed that once she unlocked all the Flower Country’s recipes, she would be invincible.
As for special recipes… that could wait.
She didn’t have grand ambitions—just wanted to support herself.
[Ding dong!]
“Hmm?” Hu Hu curiously opened the panel and found a message.
It read that someone had sent a layout plan, so it asked Qin Yue Ran for her opinion.
“Xiao Ran, do you want to keep cooking? The layout plan is here,” Hu Hu forwarded it to her. “Is this layout okay?”
Qin Yue Ran glanced at it and thought it looked good enough for now—she just needed a temporary setup and could modify it later.
“Sure, since we have a layout, let’s start with the farm!”
Unfortunately, she couldn’t leave yet because Shi Qingyu and the others had ordered more food.
By the way, after finishing breakfast, Shi Qingyu and the two others hadn’t left because a new aroma was wafting from the kitchen—they were convinced there was a new dish and stayed at the restaurant.

Over an hour later, they finally saw the new menu item…
Of course, they had to try it!
That way, they could compare which dish restored energy faster, then place their orders.
Qin Yue Ran carried out the new dish and returned to the kitchen. “I think I need some staff.”
Hu Hu nodded. “You do need staff, but the employee system unlocks only at level two. You need to level up, Xiao Ran.”
“What’s in the warehouse?” Qin Yue Ran asked as she clicked it, her eyes sparkling. “It’s the stuff they exchanged!”
“Yes, the items guests put into the points exchange machine go into the warehouse. You can use them yourself or list them in the store,” Hu Hu said, sitting politely on her calves, looking adorable. “But the system takes a 20% cut of items, and there’s a 5% points handling fee on sales.”
“That’s not bad—at least they don’t take most of it,” Qin Yue Ran was easily satisfied and already feeling pleasantly surprised.
“However, later you might have to give an additional 10% of items,” Hu Hu added.
“Why?” Qin Yue Ran was puzzled.
“Ah... it just shows in the database. I don’t know the specifics,” Hu Hu feigned ignorance.
“Don’t know?” Qin Yue Ran squinted, guessing, “You mean you don’t know, or... I’m not high enough level to hear?”
Hu Hu wagged her tail and looked with big innocent eyes. “Xiao Ran, you’re quite the guesser~”
Qin Yue Ran smiled faintly and didn’t press further. She’d find out once she leveled up.
Outside the kitchen, Shi Qingyu and the others tested the new dish’s energy and injury recovery effects—it was better, but the problem was it wasn’t portable.
“I wonder if Boss Qin has any other medicines for restoring spiritual power and wounds. I think if she made them, they’d work,” Shi Qingyu frowned.
“Why not ask Boss Qin?” Cheng Shuangshuang suggested.
Gu Yuanyuan stuffed something in his mouth, mumbling indistinctly, “I think it’s similar to Zuotian’s…”
Shi Qingyu rubbed her forehead and, with Cheng Shuangshuang, interrupted, “Swallow first before talking.”
Gu Yuanyuan chewed and swallowed. “I think the tea eggs’ effect is a bit different from last night.”
“I didn’t notice…” Cheng Shuangshuang frowned. “Could it be that it’s getting less effective for us?”
“Not necessarily. The taste’s a bit off, though only slightly,” Gu Yuanyuan scratched his head. “I’m more sensitive to food flavors. You guys might not notice.”
Shi Qingyu and Cheng Shuangshuang: “…”
They cared less about flavor and more about the recovery effects.
Seeing Qin Yue Ran busy, they felt awkward to ask now and left.
After they left, Qin Yue Ran came out, cleaned the tables, threw dishes into the automatic dishwasher, and returned to the reception hall.
Shi Qingyu and the others were strolling on the island to digest and sunbathe—they hadn’t seen the sun for seven days.
Qin Yue Ran had barely sat down when she received a system notification—someone was knocking.
She clicked the little house button at the bottom right and teleported back.

At the front door, she peeked out and saw Grandma Li.
“Good morning, Grandma Li. What brings you here?” Qin Yue Ran greeted politely.
Grandma Li seemed relieved to see her. “Oh, Xiao Ran, looks like nothing’s wrong.”
“Huh?” Qin Yue Ran was confused.
“I noticed you haven’t been out these past few days… haven’t gone shopping or eaten out. I was worried something happened to you,” Grandma Li explained.
Qin Yue Ran blushed and said, “Sorry, I’ve been tidying up at home these days, too lazy to go out, so I just made do with what I had. Um… I did bring some food back.”
“That’s fine, that’s fine. Come to my place for lunch,” Grandma Li said kindly.
Qin Yue Ran couldn’t refuse the elderly lady’s kindness. “Okay, Grandma Li.”
After chatting for half an hour, Grandma Li reminded her to come over for lunch and then returned to her home.
Qin Yue Ran closed the door and sighed in relief. “Good thing I had you make that reminder device today.”
Hu Hu’s head popped up from Qin Yue Ran’s shoulder. “Are you going back?”
Qin Yue Ran thought for a moment. “I’ll go back after lunch, and I need to come out for walks more often.”
She rubbed Hu Hu’s head. “You keep an eye on the guests.”
“Okay.” Hu Hu nodded.
Just after noon, Qin Yue Ran arrived punctually at Grandma Li’s house.
After eating, she felt awkward taking a free meal, so despite Grandma Li’s objections, she tidied the table and washed the dishes.
After cleaning up and stepping out of the kitchen, Qin Yue Ran saw Grandma Li chatting with Grandma Liu.
Not knowing Grandma Liu well, she greeted both, “Grandma Li, Grandma Liu, I’m heading back now.”
“Oh, Xiao Ran, you…” Grandma Liu began.
“Okay, come again next time,” Grandma Li interrupted with a smile.
Qin Yue Ran breathed a sigh of relief, replied “Okay,” and headed to the door.
“What were you just talking about?” Grandma Li asked.
“Um… Old Chen’s family wants to open a specialty shop. You know, the area nearby has been developed into a tourist spot…” Qin Yue Ran closed the door, blocking out the voices behind her.
She kept walking, her face thoughtful.
