Chapter Two: Reunion

“Rouxue, why... why are you laughing?”
“You really are adorably silly, Natsuki!”
“Huh?”
Natsuki’s eyes widened; suddenly, realization dawned on him and he raised his voice to ask, “Don’t tell me you were just pulling a prank on me?”
“A prank? Not exactly. This was just a little test for my younger boyfriend. Hehe, at least it proves my Natsuki is a responsible and qualified boyfriend.”
Su Rouxue’s voice was gentle and sweet, tinged with a teasing lilt. Knowing the truth, Natsuki breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of happiness.
Was this... his sister’s approval?
It was hard to describe, but in that moment, emotion welled up inside Natsuki, a smile blooming uncontrollably across his face. Yet he deliberately lowered his voice, putting on a serious tone as he spoke into the phone, “Just now, I even thought of names for our future child.”
“Oh? And what would those be?”
“If it’s a girl, she’ll be called Xia Nianxue. If it’s a boy... Xia Bingbao, maybe...”
“Heh, I bet you just made those up on the spot.”
“No way!”
“But I can tell you probably prefer having a daughter, right?”
“Maybe.”
Natsuki chuckled. If he ever became a father, he truly wished for a daughter—a little angel to dote on.
Of course, if it turned out to be a son, he would gladly accept that too. After all, whether a girl or boy, they’d be the crystallization of his love with Su Rouxue.
To be honest, if this whole episode hadn’t been a test, he’d be quite curious to know where the story would have gone.
Afterwards, he and Su Rouxue chatted flirtatiously for a while longer before finally hanging up.
He had to admit, Su Rouxue really was a woman who could torture a man’s heart!
Their conversation had been pure and sweet, yet the entire time Natsuki felt his blood racing. The distance between them did nothing to slow the rush of dopamine.
Su Rouxue was indeed his ideal partner, and every moment with her felt utterly comfortable.
For a young man his age, once he set his heart so firmly on someone, that love would surely become a lasting memory for a lifetime.
Desires are simply nature’s way of keeping the world in balance.

Boys of eighteen or nineteen and women nearing thirty—truly, they make the perfect match.
As the old saying goes, a woman at thirty...
In truth, when they first met, Su Rouxue had been even shyer than he was.
Perhaps in terms of age, Natsuki was the younger man in need of care, but every time they embraced, Su Rouxue felt that her young, verdant lover was sometimes someone she could really rely on.
It had already been two weeks since they last saw each other...
At that moment, in separate rooms, both looked up at the bright moon in the sky.
On a sultry night, Natsuki drifted off to sleep wrapped in satisfaction and dreams, hope and resolve, drowsiness and a smile...
Time passed swiftly—days slipped by unnoticed.
After saying goodbye to his parents, he set off alone with his luggage, caught his transport, and returned once more to Yuncheng.
The purpose of this trip was different from last time. Before, it had been for travel; this time, it was to register as a new student—and, of course, for Su Rouxue.
Freshman registration was in two days, but he arrived early for one reason: to see the woman who occupied his every thought.
Long-distance love was a true ordeal; whether for emotional or physical needs, for lovers in the throes of passion, it was pure torment.
After getting off the plane and retrieving his suitcase, Natsuki followed the throngs of people onward.
He passed through the ticket gate and immediately spotted her waiting patiently in the crowd.
Today, she wore a peach-pink, vintage-style chiffon dress, paired with retro orange-gray shoes.
Unlike their first meeting, Su Rouxue wore her hair long and loose, accentuated by gold-rimmed glasses. She stood tall and elegant, as pure and beautiful as a lotus in bloom.
Her hands were clasped behind her back, a shy smile lighting her face. Her attire and makeup gave her a fresh, girlish charm—she was, in a word, enchanting.
Meanwhile, Natsuki, having rushed through his journey without time to tidy up, stood before her in a simple white T-shirt, black track pants, and white sneakers.
Their faces were radiant with the smiles of those in love.
Their looks drew envious glances from the crowd.
Without a word, Natsuki set his suitcase aside, opened his arms, and pulled Su Rouxue into a tight embrace.
She was half a head shorter than him, her faint rose scent drifting up to meet him. As he held her, Natsuki felt that familiar restlessness return. He whispered softly in her ear, “I’ve missed you so much!”
“I’ve missed you too.”

Su Rouxue replied in a gentle murmur, her heart blossoming with joy. Held in the embrace of this young man, she too felt a restless excitement stirring within her.
Yet, when she sensed he might try something more intimate in public, Su Rouxue quickly composed herself, a slight smile curling her lips as she looped her arm through his. “Let’s find a place to drop off your luggage first, then we can go out for a meal.”
“Alright.”
Natsuki felt a touch embarrassed; his earlier urge to be bold had been interrupted, and a faint blush colored his cheeks.
Airports are places of reunion and parting for so many lovers, and a high-profile, affectionate couple like Natsuki and Su Rouxue couldn’t help but sprinkle a little sweetness into the atmosphere.
And so, under the gaze of many envious onlookers, they left together...
They found a decent hotel and checked into a couple’s suite.
Inside, Su Rouxue sat on the sofa, resting her cheek on her hand as she leaned against the armrest.
She gazed dreamily at the frosted glass of the bathroom. For some reason, as soon as she entered the suite and breathed in the specially blended fragrance, she felt a strange restlessness come over her.
After a dozen or so minutes, Natsuki emerged wrapped in a towel, drying his hair with a blow-dryer, his gaze shyly meeting Su Rouxue’s as she watched from the sofa.
“I’ll get dressed, and then we can go for lunch.”
“Mm, your abs are looking more defined these days!”
“I’ve been working out!”
“Come here.”
“Huh? Okay.”
As Natsuki walked over—
“Very nice. Guys with abs are the most handsome.”
Su Rouxue gazed at him with deep affection, her voice as gentle and melodious as ever.
But those words of praise set Natsuki’s heart racing all over again...
