Chapter Ninety-One I Am Very Satisfied

Infinite Evolution in the Marvel Universe A devout prayer 2400 words 2026-03-06 05:41:36

I understand. I will do as you say.

Sonia, hearing Mr. Kassadin’s words and reflecting for a moment, understood as well and nodded.

“Your evolution has been too few in number, and your body is too weak. I won’t force you to come with me.”

“Hold out your hand.”

Seeing that Sonia had understood, Harvey did not continue on that subject. Instead, he glanced at the ankle that had turned bright red and spoke.

Sonia did not hesitate and extended her hand.

At once, Harvey took her hand and, with a downward glance, the two of them vanished from the road.

The next second, Harvey brought Sonia before a solemn and sacred golden temple. The temple was built of great yellow-brown stone blocks and had a majestic, imposing air.

A flight of steps led up to the sanctuary above, and at the top of the stairway stood a massive stone platform.

Upon that platform rose a ten-meter statue, carved in perfect likeness to Kassadin. The sculptor’s skill was plainly extraordinary.

“Not bad.”

Harvey looked up at the temple’s color scheme and at the statue that matched his present form exactly, and he said with satisfaction.

Though the void was dark and empty, a temple plainly could not be built upon darkness as its main tone.

A temple based in black would not only be unattractive, but would also easily give people an immediate sense of oppression.

Back then, Sonia had asked him whether the void’s foundation should be bright and grand, or dark and empty. He had simply said that he wanted it bright and grand, and she had brought it to life accordingly. To be honest, it was very good.

Sonia, though she saw the scenery before her change drastically and found herself instantly before the temple, was not very surprised.

She had long since known that Mr. Kassadin possessed the ability to teleport.

Not to mention that when she received the power of the void, she had witnessed Mr. Kassadin’s near-miraculous ability to step down and vanish without a trace even amid the starry rivers of the universe.

“Thank you for the praise, Mr. Kassadin.”

“However, you still need to carve the doctrines and precepts of the Void Church onto the stone tablet beneath the statue, so that future arrivals may feel awe and reverence.”

Hearing this somewhat satisfied evaluation from Mr. Kassadin, Sonia smiled as she spoke.

Harvey nodded, then used the power of the void to support Sonia as he lifted her directly into the air to the platform beneath the statue, releasing her hand.

With a wave of his finger, lines of characters appeared upon the towering stone tablet.

When Sonia saw Mr. Kassadin let go of her hand on his own, she paid it no mind.

But when she looked at the writing, she found that the translator also indicated that the language came from C53.

This made Sonia’s eyes flash with thought.

If Mr. Kassadin were to be away for too long in the future, perhaps she could go to C53 to inquire after him.

Although the language he used could not by itself prove that Mr. Kassadin came from the blue planet designated C53, he often used this language, which meant he must have lived on C53 for a considerable time; otherwise, he would not have mastered that planet’s tongue.

“In the future, I’ll be able to tell the others who join the void that the doctrines and precepts on this stone tablet were personally carved by you.”

Sonia concealed her thoughts and instead looked at the doctrines and precepts Mr. Kassadin had spoken to her earlier, now appearing upon the stone tablet, and smiled as she said this.

“I am about to spread the word, so that more people will believe in the void.”

“Before long, there should be people on Xandar who hear my name and come here.”

“From now on, you must explain things to them properly, and make them take this as a warning, so they do not lose themselves in the abyss of desire.”

Harvey said.

“Yes, the carving is finished. Shall we go into the temple and take a look?”

Sonia nodded slightly and spoke.

Harvey nodded and followed Sonia into the temple.

At the far end of the temple hall, high above, was a huge mural of night and the starry river intertwined.

“I’m quite satisfied, yes, but can you tell me why you chose to design it this way?”

Seeing the mural, Harvey asked in some surprise.

“Because you did not give me a clear requirement for the symbol of the void.”

“So I painted what I saw when I received your blessing and looked upon the void.”

“Though it is not the whole of the void, nor can it convey your greatness and nobility.”

“But I believe that when others who believe in the void see it, they will also realize that this represents the void.”

“And the meeting hall and the tribunal hall have also already been established.”

“If, in the future, there are members of the Void Church who violate the precepts, they will be brought to the tribunal hall to receive your judgment.”

“Killing one to warn the rest is also an important part of maintaining order in the temple.”

Sonia explained the reason for the design as she spoke.

To be honest, with a body as vast and boundless as Mr. Kassadin’s, even with her ability she could not capture its spirit in a painting, so she merely extracted the black-dominated expanse of stars across the heavens.

Since she, as a believer in the void, had seen those unimaginable scenes, then the others who believed in the void would most likely be able to see some of them too.

Then they would surely understand why that boundless sea of stars should be the emblem of the void.

“Sonia, you have not disappointed me.”

“You have built this temple very well.”

Hearing that Sonia had merely painted what she had seen, Harvey felt something stir in his heart, though he did not ask further. Instead, he nodded with satisfaction and did not stint in offering praise.

“As long as you are satisfied, I am relieved.”

Hearing those words of approval, Sonia let out a long breath; the tension and worry in her heart finally dispersed.

The temple had been the part she worried about most, because Mr. Kassadin had only provided requirements for the color scheme, while everything else had been left to her to devise freely.

As for the villa, she had inquired carefully about Mr. Kassadin’s preferences, and even drew several sketches for him to use as reference and to choose from, so she had not been worried about that at all.

The training facility needed no mention either; it was a special gravity-training chamber made of special materials.

It belonged to cutting-edge technology. So long as the functions were in place and the venue was sturdy enough to withstand various impact-heavy trainings, then as long as it was not unpleasant to the eye, it would certainly pass.

Seeing Sonia exhale so unreservedly, Harvey also understood that this instruction had placed some pressure on her.

“Now you can think about what reward you would like.”

“Whether money, power, or some other condition.”

“So long as your request is not too outrageous, I will consider helping you fulfill it.”

Since Sonia had handled this matter in a way that satisfied him, Harvey naturally would not be stingy with a reward, and so he spoke directly.
