Volume One: The Beginning of the Path Chapter 113: Sleeping In Is Only Natural

The night passed without incident.
At dawn, Ye Junze, whose biological clock had grown increasingly regular, awoke once more from a sweet dream.
After sitting up in bed, he rubbed his slightly bleary eyes and turned to look out the window. The sun had risen only a short while ago, yet its gentle rays had already spread throughout the entire room.
Seeing such lovely weather, Ye Junze could not help smiling. The warmth of the sunlight lifted his spirits as well.
After letting his thoughts wander for a while, Ye Junze shook his head and stopped thinking about them. He still had classes that day, after all, and there was no point wasting time. He got dressed and climbed out of bed, ordered breakfast with practiced ease, then turned to wash up.
It did not take him long to finish getting ready. Soon, he walked out of the bathroom.
When he saw that breakfast had already been delivered to the table, Ye Junze smiled in satisfaction and went over to begin eating.
After finishing a meal substantial enough to sustain him through class, Ye Junze glanced at the time. Seeing that it was nearly time for lessons to begin, he rose and prepared to head to the classroom.
He left his dormitory, locked the door, clapped his hands together, and started toward the building’s exit.
Just as Ye Junze reached the entrance and was about to leave, he suddenly heard a familiar voice calling his name.
Puzzled, he turned around. When he saw who it was, a smile appeared on his face. He immediately waved and called back with a grin, “Senior Sister.”
The person calling him was naturally Lin Xin. She waved back with a smile and quickly walked over.
“You didn’t seem to hear me when I called you just now,” Lin Xin said as she approached. “I was even about to use spiritual power to call out to you.”
“How could I not hear you?” Ye Junze replied with a smile. “I’m very familiar with your voice, Senior Sister.”
“So you’re heading to class now?” Lin Xin asked, looking at him.
Ye Junze nodded. “That’s right.”
Lin Xin smiled when she heard his answer. “Perfect. I’m heading to class too. Shall we go together?”
Ye Junze naturally had no objection. They were both in the Dao Arts Department, and their paths happened to coincide. “Sure.”
“Then let’s go.” Lin Xin spoke as she started walking ahead.
Ye Junze had no choice but to follow, falling into step beside her.
“Come to think of it, Junior, what class do you have today?” Lin Xin suddenly asked.
“If I remember correctly, it should be combat training,” Ye Junze replied after thinking for a moment.
“Oh? Combat training?” Lin Xin said, nodding with a smile. “That should be interesting.”
Hearing this, Ye Junze could not help asking curiously, “What do you mean? Is there something special about it?”
Lin Xin shook her head, wearing a mysterious expression as she smiled. “That cannot be said. That cannot be said.”
Seeing her deliberately act so mysterious, Ye Junze could only feel helpless. He knew that once Lin Xin said something like that, she truly had no intention of telling him. It seemed he would have to find out for himself during class.

Looking at Ye Junze’s expression, Lin Xin suddenly smiled and continued, “Still, for the sake of our acquaintance, your senior sister can give you one piece of advice.”
“Hmm? What is it?” Ye Junze asked curiously.
Lin Xin smiled. “Protect your face. After all, it would be a shame if a handsome face like yours were disfigured.”
After she said this, Ye Junze wondered whether it was merely his imagination, but Lin Xin seemed faintly gleeful beside him, as though she had thought of something amusing.
Although he did not understand what she meant, Ye Junze still nodded. “Thank you, Senior Sister. I’ll remember that.”
Lin Xin waved dismissively. “As long as you remember. Still, with your current strength, it’s hard to say who should really be worried.”
As she spoke, Lin Xin suddenly seemed to realize something. Her eyes widened in shock.
“Wait. Junior, did you... break through again?!”
Indeed, Lin Xin had been too absorbed in their conversation to carefully sense the fluctuations coming from Ye Junze. But when the subject of his strength came up, she focused her attention and examined him. Only then did she realize that, compared with the last time they had met a few days earlier, Ye Junze had actually made another breakthrough.
It was no wonder Lin Xin was astonished. To advance through two realms in such a short period was itself proof of extraordinary talent. Although cultivators in the Qi Condensation realm did not require an especially large amount of spiritual energy, that was only in comparison with the higher realms. Someone who could break through as quickly as Ye Junze was rare even within the entire Dao Arts Department. No—even throughout Anze Academy, a person capable of advancing at such a speed could be counted on one hand.
Ye Junze naturally had no idea what Lin Xin was thinking. Hearing her question, he nodded and answered, “Yes. I reached the mid-stage of Qi Condensation last night.”
Upon receiving his confirmation, Lin Xin clicked her tongue in amazement. “How long has it even been? And you’ve already broken through again. I knew from the beginning that you were a genius, Junior, but I never imagined you’d be this much of a genius. You’re becoming more and more impossible to see through.”
Ye Junze felt somewhat embarrassed by her praise. He scratched his head, unsure of what to say.
After thinking for a moment, he replied, “It was nothing. While I was cultivating last night, I suddenly felt something stirring in my dantian, and then I simply broke through.”
“Enough, enough,” Lin Xin said, waving her hands. “Don’t say anything more, Junior. If you keep going, I’m afraid I’ll suffer a serious blow to my confidence.”
Hearing this, Ye Junze smiled awkwardly and, as she requested, said no more.
Seeing how obediently he stopped, Lin Xin’s eyes curved into crescents, her face bright with amusement. It was obvious that she was in an excellent mood, though no one knew what she was thinking.
Then she remembered something else and resumed chatting with Ye Junze as they walked.
Along the way, Lin Xin told him about the many interesting things she had experienced since arriving at Anze, while Ye Junze shared amusing stories from his own classes over the past few days. He often made Lin Xin laugh brightly, and the two of them continued onward amid an endless stream of cheerful conversation.
Because of this, Ye Junze also learned about many things he had never had the opportunity to encounter before. After listening to Lin Xin, a faint sense of anticipation gradually rose within him. His heart filled with hope as he imagined that one day he, too, might have the chance to experience such things.
Although the two chatted casually, neither of them walked slowly. Before long, they arrived at the Dao Arts Department.
Looking up, they saw a vast cluster of buildings spread across the area. In the distance, mist coiled around the mountain peaks, lending the entire place an almost immortal air.
After walking together into the department, Lin Xin stopped and said, “All right. Since you have combat training, our classrooms aren’t in the same place. You should go on ahead. I’ll head this way.”
Ye Junze nodded. “All right. Goodbye, Senior Sister.”
With that, he waved and headed toward the combat-training classroom.
Lin Xin waved back and called out goodbye before turning and leaving as well.
After parting from Lin Xin, Ye Junze recalled the location of his combat-training class from the schedule he had seen earlier. Still somewhat uncertain, he took out his phone and checked the exact location. Only after confirming it did he put the phone away and quicken his pace toward his destination.
When Ye Junze approached the classroom, he saw that many people had already arrived. Among the crowd, he also spotted several familiar faces. Smiling, he walked over.

When Ye Junze reached them, those familiar faces naturally noticed his arrival and greeted him excitedly.
“Ye Junze, you’re here too!”
Ye Junze nodded with a smile. “Just you three? Yun Tianhan hasn’t arrived yet?”
Indeed, the three people were Li Ling, Fan Yan, and Lu Renjia.
The three shook their heads at his question.
“We’ve been here for a while, but we haven’t seen him,” Li Ling replied. “He lives in the same building as you, doesn’t he? You didn’t see him either?”
Ye Junze shook his head. “I was alone when I left. I didn’t see him. Maybe he got up late again.”
The three nodded in unison, agreeing with Ye Junze’s explanation. Judging from the situation, it seemed Ye Junze had once again revealed an inconvenient truth without realizing it.
The four exchanged glances and smiled. Then they stopped discussing Yun Tianhan and began chatting casually among themselves.
After they had talked for a while, Lu Renjia’s eyes suddenly lit up, as though he had spotted something.
“Look! Guess who’s here.”
Ye Junze and the others turned to look.
There was Yun Tianhan, arriving late as usual. He noticed them as well, smiled, waved in greeting, and quickened his pace toward them.
When Yun Tianhan reached them, Ye Junze could not help saying with a smile, “You really do love sleeping in, don’t you?”
Yun Tianhan did not show the slightest embarrassment. Instead, he waved a large hand with great confidence.
“A true man has to sleep in once in a while. Otherwise, what kind of man would he be?”
Before Ye Junze could think of a reply, he saw Li Ling and Yun Tianhan nodding in profound agreement, as though they considered his words perfectly reasonable.
Ye Junze could only smile helplessly and say nothing more.
Yun Tianhan wore a triumphant expression. “See? Even the two of them agree with me.”
Fan Yan curled her lips, her face showing displeasure. “I don’t like the sound of that. What do you mean, only men have the right to sleep in? We girls have that right too, you know!”
Seeing that the situation was turning unfavorable, Yun Tianhan immediately adopted a sincere tone.
“No, no, I was wrong. I was wrong. Of course, everyone has the right to sleep in. Everyone does.”
His words were so earnest and his expression so sincere that everyone present was deeply moved.
Only then did Fan Yan smile and stop arguing with him. She waved a hand and said, “That’s more like it. I’ll let you off this time.”
The others naturally burst into another round of laughter.
Afterward, they resumed chatting about everything under the sun while waiting for class to begin.
