Chapter 45: The Little Butler Lan (Please Add to Favorites)
Thinking this way, Sanjin couldn’t help but swallow hard. He was already considering how best to win over this golden benefactor.
Wang Liang had no idea what Sanjin was plotting. After capturing the green snake, Wang Liang immediately injected the Hybrid Gene Serum into the snake’s head. The green snake slipped from his hand, writhing and rolling uncontrollably on the ground. With its twisting, the snake itself did not undergo much change, but the three thousand taels of silver it had brought began to dissolve, transforming into thirty silver dolls each about half the height of a person. All these dolls were dressed as maidservants, their hair and clothes entirely silver.
On the sashes at their waists were inscribed: “Fourth Year of Chunxi,” “Hangzhou Prefecture Seal,” and “Fifty Taels, Full Weight.” Once they appeared, they surrounded the writhing green snake and stared at it motionlessly.
Wang Liang examined one of the silver dolls and discovered that these were minor spirits the green snake had unintentionally enlightened with its power.

Faced with these nearly featureless, talentless products, Wang Liang was hardly interested. In his eyes, he could dispatch them all with a single stroke. What intrigued him far more was the green snake, still twisting on the ground.
By now, the green snake had begun to transform. Its body slowly swelled, reverting to the size of a giant python. Then, a pair of forelimbs emerged from its body, and a strange head tore through the snake’s skin, crawling out. It was the head of a raptor, but with subtle differences—it bore sharper teeth than an ordinary raptor, and on either side of its mouth, eight notably elongated fangs stood out.
The raptor opened its jaws, flicking a forked tongue characteristic of snakes, then twisted its neck and pulled the rest of its body free from the shed snakeskin. Standing before Wang Liang, this raptor was nearly twice the size of a normal one, standing close to two and a half meters tall, and, including its tail, nearly five meters long.
Its entire body was covered in bamboo-green scales; around its left eye, blue markings were visible. Wang Liang recognized them—they spelled “Dragon King” in ancient script. The raptor glanced about, then fixed its gaze on Wang Liang.
Taking two steps forward, it lowered its head to Wang Liang, acknowledging him as its master. Wang Liang understood the cause and effect at play. He pointed at the raptor and said, “From now on, you are the steward here. I’ll call you Little Blue—yes, Little Blue will do.”
At his command, the raptor straightened up and walked a few steps forward. Then, to Wang Liang’s surprise, it transformed into a woman of about one meter seventy in height. She wore a long green robe, her black hair neatly arranged, adorned with three hairpins—one shaped like a green snake, another like a jade sword, and the third like a silver crescent moon.
Her eyes were slit pupils, like a snake’s, and a pair of small fangs peeked from her black lips. Standing before Wang Liang, she bowed her head gently, and he noticed her data had altered:

[Description: A green snake demon with eight centuries of cultivation, now transformed with dinosaur genes. She now possesses power surpassing her previous form. Evidently, being a transgenic dinosaur is not her final state.]
Transformed into the steward Little Blue, the green snake stood impassively behind Wang Liang, gazing at Sanjin and his companions with the cool detachment reserved for outsiders. Meanwhile, the silver attendants sprang to life, automatically forming two lines like silver funerary figures in a tomb, standing behind Little Blue and fixing Sanjin’s group with the gaze reserved for the dead.
Sanjin and his companions had experienced such things before. Wang Liang, a newcomer, might not understand, but Little Blue, as steward, instantly received information from the mansion and instinctively accepted it.
“Serve the master, monitor outsiders, drive away intruders!”
Beyond these duties, the steward Little Blue would do nothing else. In this place, Wang Liang was her master, and Sanjin was an outsider. Fortunately, Wang Liang gave no command against Sanjin—otherwise, Little Blue would have attacked at once.
Understanding this, Sanjin smiled at Wang Liang and finally advised, “You should set aside a place in the front courtyard as an outer study for visitors. That way, if your teammates wish to find you, they can wait there.”
Wang Liang knew this even better than Sanjin. Sanjin’s suggestion came from gaming experience, but Wang Liang had truly lived through such noble household arrangements. After a quick thought, he designated the location of the outer study, choosing the small courtyard nearest the second gate. Like a traditional compound, it had a main hall, side rooms on the left and right, and a rear wing.
He planned to use the main hall as a reception room and the side rooms as guest quarters for visitors—anyone seeking him would be intercepted there. No sooner had Wang Liang decided than Little Blue seemed to sense it. Without a word, she dispatched four silver attendants to handle the arrangements.
Every move of the steward Little Blue was in Wang Liang’s sight, and with such a steward at hand, he felt much at ease.
