Chapter 37: Where Vigilante Justice Is Carried Out
Meanwhile, Zhang Pu, who was being taken away, appeared as leisurely as if he were taking a stroll in his own backyard. This sight fell into Wu Yu’s eyes, and Wu Yu couldn’t help but sneer inwardly: Kid, you really won’t shed a tear until you see the coffin. Even at the brink of death, you pretend to be cool? Just wait until we reach our destination, when the door closes—beating you until you kneel and beg for mercy will be the least of your worries!
But as Wu Yu cast a sidelong glance at Zhang Pu, he was unexpectedly surprised to see Liu Qingyan following behind some of the security guards.
Damn! Why did she come along?
If it were anyone else, it would be easy to scare them off or dismiss them. But this modern high school belle truly gave him a headache.
Forget it. Better to let the security guards take Zhang Pu into the house first, then intercept Liu Qingyan personally.
Though she probably wouldn’t care for any tricks of his, showing disdain for his charms and favoring Zhang Pu’s ordinary, infuriating demeanor, there was nothing else he could do at the moment.
By now, the group had arrived at a house situated in a somewhat secluded spot. Wu Yu signaled the security guards to usher Zhang Pu inside, while he himself headed to the back of the group to block Liu Qingyan.
Whether he could stop Liu Qingyan, or for how long, Wu Yu had no confidence. But even if he could just buy a bit of time for the security guards to give Zhang Pu a beating inside, that alone would bring him satisfaction!
The five security guards Wu Yu had brought were handpicked—not only were they skilled, but they were also loyal to him. Wu Yu didn’t even need to spell out orders; they could easily guess what he wanted.
In an instant, the guards moved as one, pushing Zhang Pu into the house.
Zhang Pu, surprisingly, managed to turn back and smile at Liu Qingyan at the end of the line, then willingly dashed into the house.
Seeing Liu Qingyan about to rush forward, Wu Yu, in his urgency to stop her, grabbed her hand.
That indescribable warmth and softness upon contact made Wu Yu feel faint and dizzy. Truth be told, as a rich playboy, he’d held many girls’ hands—some even offered theirs to him, for his father always gave him plenty of pocket money.
Yet, in this moment, Wu Yu felt that Liu Qingyan’s hand was unlike any he’d ever touched! Beauty truly made a difference—Wu Yu stared at Liu Qingyan, momentarily dazed.
A loud slap rang out.
He seemed to forget to let go, and Liu Qingyan broke free, turning her hand to deliver a sharp slap across his face.
Even after being slapped, Wu Yu still stared at Liu Qingyan, as if dumbfounded. Perhaps, being struck by a beauty was some kind of premium enjoyment for him—he lingered on the sensation.
But Liu Qingyan was not of his ilk. She pushed Wu Yu, who, caught off guard, toppled backward, legs flailing like an overturned turtle.
Liu Qingyan rushed forward, but the guards had already shut and locked the house door. No matter how she pounded on it, it wouldn’t open.
Suddenly, sounds of scuffling and fighting echoed from inside.
After a moment, the door was opened from within. Wu Yu, still sprawled like a turtle, ignored his own embarrassment and scrambled up, rushing toward the house. He figured Zhang Pu must have been dealt with by now—this was his moment to lord it over, to torment Liu Qingyan emotionally, or even to have the guards restrain her so he could add his own kicks and punches to Zhang Pu, all for her to witness!
Hahaha! Wu Yu almost burst out laughing in his glee, but at that moment, Liu Qingyan moved just as fast as he did, and both ended up charging into the house together.
As they entered, their vision blurred for an instant—a shadow flashed behind them as swift as lightning.
Wu Yu finally steadied his gaze, only to be struck dumb on the spot!
He saw that the five security guards he had brought—strong, burly men—all lay sprawled on the floor, utterly silent, like dead pigs.
Wu Yu was so shocked his jaw nearly dropped when suddenly he heard the door slam shut beside him.
He turned his head inadvertently and saw Zhang Pu—completely unharmed, not a scratch on him.
“This…” Wu Yu was speechless.
From the complaints of Zhang Biao and Hong Shunquan, Wu Yu knew Zhang Pu could hold his own in a fight, but he had never imagined Zhang Pu could be this terrifying. These five security guards were not students—they were adults, real adults, and being security guards, not even ordinary adults could compare.
Yet now, they lay on the ground, utterly defeated like infants.
At this point, Wu Yu, fully sobered, couldn’t possibly mistake what had happened.
And now, it seemed Zhang Pu was deliberately barring the door, locking it, as if to turn the tables on Wu Yu’s plan to close the door and beat the dog!
Wu Yu nearly wanted to cry—his family was one of the shareholders here, but so what? Right now, distant water couldn’t quench a nearby fire!
If Zhang Pu was just a reckless kid and decided to beat him up first, what could Wu Yu do? He’d often ordered others to beat up students, but now that it was his turn to take a beating, he was genuinely terrified.
Seeing Zhang Pu move a hand, Wu Yu suddenly screamed in fright—
“Don’t, don’t hit me! I’ll… I’ll give you money… I, I have plenty of pocket money…”
Meanwhile, since entering the house, Liu Qingyan had been unusually calm. Seeing Wu Yu’s cowardly display and hearing his completely humiliating words, she looked at him with contempt.
At that moment, being scorned by the goddess in his heart, Wu Yu wished there were a hole in the ground he could crawl into. Yet under Zhang Pu’s silent, menacing presence, he had no choice but to completely lower his stance and submit!
A wise man doesn’t suffer immediate losses—his father understood this principle and had taught him clearly. Right now, if Zhang Pu agreed not to hit him, Wu Yu would even kneel and call Zhang Pu “dad” if he had to!
Zhang Pu originally intended to give Wu Yu a beating—the guy was too despicable, bringing five adult security guards to try and lynch him, and even twisting the truth to put Zhang Pu on trial when it was Zhang Biao and Hong Shunquan who were at fault. Outrageous!
But when Wu Yu, out of fear, blurted out that he could offer a lot of money for a beating exemption, Zhang Pu was suddenly tempted—for he thought of his grand plan for cultivating immortality!
