Volume One, Chapter 14: Technician Yan Ruyan
Early morning, Su Wen groggily opened her eyes and skillfully wiped the drool at the corner of her mouth.
Her boss seemed to still be asleep, very quiet—indeed, it looked like he was worn out from last night’s ordeal.
What she didn’t know was that Chen Wen hadn’t slept a wink all night.
He stared blankly at the ceiling, his mind a complete muddle.
His senses of smell and touch tormented him relentlessly, akin to one of the Ten Great Tortures of the Qing dynasty…
The entire night—who could possibly know how he endured it?
No man in the world could match Chen Wen’s fortitude: not once turning over or moving his legs throughout the night.
Such was his iron will!
With his eyes tightly shut, Su Wen finally woke up. He thought he could finally be free.
Yet, Su Wen smiled sweetly at the sight of Chen Wen’s closed eyes, gently pressed a kiss on his cheek, and then closed her eyes to continue sleeping.
At that moment, Chen Wen’s body tensed like a corpse that had been dead for ages, his mind in utter chaos.
The system alarm blared, sending frantic warnings.
Fortunately, Su Wen did not take any further action—a small mercy amidst the misfortune.
Chen Wen felt utterly defeated. Here he was, the dignified boss, forcibly kissed by his employee with no way to retaliate—how tragic.
If anyone else were present, they would surely have scolded Chen Wen for being shameless.
After all, Su Wen was the top campus beauty! Countless people dreamed of earning a single kiss from her, yet Chen Wen looked as if he were dying.
Suddenly, Su Wen restlessly shifted her legs.
Feeling a strange sensation near her thigh, her delicate face flushed crimson instantly.
Suppressing the trembling all over her body, Su Wen’s face grew so red it seemed about to bleed.
Looking at Chen Wen’s profile—those large dark circles under his eyes and his unmistakable exhaustion, a visage on the brink of collapse—she could only understand that he likely hadn’t slept a wink all night.
Su Wen felt both shy and deeply guilty.
She seemed to have tormented her boss all night.
He had endured the whole night without stirring, just to avoid waking her, suffering silently.
She gently sat up, buttoned her pajamas, then awkwardly wiped the drool stains off the pillow.
Pulling the pink quilt over Chen Wen, she limped slowly out of the room.
Hearing the door close, Chen Wen finally felt a weight lift from his shoulders. He struggled to turn over and soon fell into a deep sleep.
Outside the door, Su Wen pressed her ear against it, blushing deeply as she heard the sound of the boss moving. It was clear he really hadn’t slept last night—she felt so sorry for him.
A light rain fell outside, indicating that the foot bath shop would again see little business today.
Pouting, Su Wen hung the “Closed” sign on behalf of her boss, then skipped lightly into the kitchen.
Last time the boss treated me; this time, I’ll treat the boss.
Having never cooked noodles before, she fumbled anxiously, following online instructions. After much effort, she finally finished and carefully placed the bowl on the dining table.
Everything ready, Su Wen sat in the massage chair, staring absentmindedly at the drizzle outside the window.
Such a peaceful and beautiful life—it truly was happiness.
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Frowning, Su Wen thought, didn’t I hang the “Closed” sign? Who could it be?
The door opened to reveal Yan Ruyan, pale-faced, who looked at Su Wen and spoke with difficulty:
“Where… is Boss Chen?”
Su Wen’s face was full of hostility. Was this the kind of person who could call the boss “boss”?
She turned her face away, pouting: “The boss is asleep. You can’t disturb her.”
Yan Ruyan rolled her eyes at Su Wen, snorted coldly, dragged a chair inside, and sat down without invitation.
“You…”
Su Wen wanted to retort but realized her own power was nearly zero—no one could outshout this woman—so she decided to wait for the boss to wake before saying anything.
The two glared at each other, neither willing to give ground.
…
It wasn’t until noon that Chen Wen finally opened his eyes, greeted immediately by that youthful scent.
Stiffly touching his own face, he found a lip print painted with drool and a bite mark on his neck, stained with blood.
This was a lifetime mark…
Embarrassed, he got out of bed, pushed open the door wearing barely any clothes—likely removed by Su Wen last night.
Upon opening the door, he saw two people exchanging fierce glares inside the foot bath shop.
He didn’t know what Yan Ruyan had said, but Su Wen looked furious, her face bright red and body trembling slightly, while Yan Ruyan wore a smug expression.
Chen Wen’s lips twitched; how was Su Wen’s fighting spirit so low that she could be so easily manipulated?
“Boss!”
Two voices called out simultaneously, startling Chen Wen.
The recruitment spell was working.
Yet Yan Ruyan’s eyes still showed resistance, as if reluctantly obeying.
Chen Wen frowned. This was completely different from Su Wen’s case—after recruitment, Su Wen clung to him like chewing gum, inseparable, whereas Yan Ruyan seemed to obey only physically.
“Very well, Yan Ruyan.”
“I want to ask you—did you push Su Wen?”
Seeing Chen Wen’s serious expression, Yan Ruyan grew nervous and nodded through gritted teeth.
“Yes, I did.”
Su Wen was so irritated she wanted to grind her teeth, but she couldn’t argue back. Her injured leg prevented her from moving; both her physical and magical attack powers were zero.
“Good. As punishment, you will work at the Goddess Foot Bath Shop for one year.”
“One year, after which I will lift the recruitment. Do you accept?”
The thought of working at this foot bath shop for a whole year, massaging those men’s feet, made Yan Ruyan tremble with anger.
But she had no choice but to obey Chen Wen’s orders and nodded humbly.
Chen Wen sneered. Now do you regret it? Why didn’t you think ahead before hurting Su Wen?
A year was already Chen Wen’s mercy; if he wished, Yan Ruyan might be stuck here for life.
“Su Wen is the general manager of the foot bath shop. From now on, you will follow her arrangements. What she says is what I say.”
“Understood?”
Yan Ruyan glared resentfully at Su Wen’s triumphant, pretty face but could only continue nodding.
[Su Wen’s Happiness Level: 96]
Chen Wen smiled in satisfaction, patted Su Wen’s little head, and sat down at the table, eating the noodles she had prepared.
Though slightly burnt… no salt added… clumped together… a bit blackened…
But!
Could this even be eaten? Chen Wen felt a bit guilty.
“Gritting my teeth!”
Thinking of Su Wen’s happiness level about to break 100, he indulged her this once and ate it.
Ugh…
“Boss, what’s wrong?”
Su Wen jumped over worriedly.
“Nothing, maybe I slept too long. My stomach feels a bit uncomfortable.”
Chen Wen’s face was pale. He wondered if he would even see tomorrow’s sun.
The adorably clumsy little Su Wen dealt him blow after blow!
Physical, magical, true damage—all three at once. It was a miracle he survived…
“Beep beep beep…”
The phone rang, finally giving Chen Wen a reason to put down his chopsticks.
Fortunately, it wasn’t his useless old dad, but an unknown number.
“Hello, this is the Goddess Foot Bath Shop.”
“Hello, I am the host of the 8th Quanzhou Foot Bath Competition. We hereby invite the Goddess Foot Bath Shop to participate in the foot bath competition three days from now.”
“Please bring your best technician. We look forward to your participation!”
Chen Wen raised his eyebrows. The chance for his Goddess Foot Bath Shop to gain fame had arrived!
