Chapter 2

Before leaving, the team leader made sure the curious villagers had dispersed and once again warned Wang Chunhua not to hit anyone.

“Mom, did you hear that? The team leader said whatever’s at home, I’ll eat that,” Jiang Qiuyue said, dusting off her pants. Seeing Wang Chunhua raise her hand to strike, she quickly shouted, “Team leader!”

“What’s going on now?” Hu Haizhi, who hadn’t gone far, turned back.

Wang Chunhua hurried to speak first, “Nothing, Qiuyue just wanted to thank you.”

“No need for thanks. I’m leaving now,” Hu Haizhi replied, turning away.

As soon as he turned, Wang Chunhua’s expression darkened. “Jiang Qiuyue, don’t be shameless. Get in here right now!”

With the team leader watching, she couldn’t openly reprimand Jiang Qiuyue. But once the door was closed, she planned to teach her a lesson.

“Jiang Qiuyue, didn’t you hear me calling?” Wang Chunhua lowered her voice, glancing around nervously, afraid someone might overhear.

Jiang Qiuyue replied calmly, “I heard you. But I’m not going in. Once I step into the yard, you’ll definitely hit me. Mom, the team leader said if you hit me, I’ll report it to him.”

“Are you out of your mind?” Wang Chunhua usually wouldn’t dare speak to her like that. Her heart trembled sharply. Indeed, Jiang Qiuyue had bled heavily from her head today. “You... you come in first, I won’t hit you.”

Hearing her mother-in-law’s curses from the room, Qian Li’s eyes darted around before she ran off to complain.

“She’s gone crazy!” Wang Chunhua, having just sat down, put on her cloth shoes and knocked loudly on Jiang Qiuyue’s door. “Jiang Qiuyue, what do you think you’re doing? Not cooking—what’s the point of having you in this family? Get out here, open the door... ah!”

As Wang Chunhua knocked, Jiang Qiuyue seized the moment and suddenly opened the door. Wang Chunhua stumbled and fell hard, hitting her front teeth on the ground, blood gushing immediately.
